When I awoke this morning, I looked around my home and was really struck by how much I have to be thankful for in my life. The crocheted afghan that Mac’s Aunt Bessie made when she was in her 90’s. It keeps me warm at night. The “Balloon Seller” figurine that my mom so loved. The watercolor of a ship done by a dear friend.

So I blocked out a 2 week "stay-cation" – and I'm just about half-way through. Not every widow has the luxury of a 2 week time off, but I do believe that we (and that means anyone who is reading this) need to give ourselves times of rest—and I think that can be a hard thing to do.
