An epic journey from Egypt to Cape Town over 3 months on 4 modes of transport. March 8, 2014. We crossed the border at Moyale, into Kenya. This was again a simple procedure of signing out and signing in. No visa required for South Africans to enter Kenya. The winds followed us all the way to Marsabit, where we spent a rest day. We landed up camping in a convent with good ablution facilities and the nuns even went so far a to provide us with a tuck shop service selling yoghurt (a rare commodity up unt...

An epic journey from Egypt to Cape Town over 3 months on 4 modes of transport. March 3, 2014. After a long month in Ethiopia, I am glad to say goodbye and look forward to what Kenya has to offer. It appears that Abba is extremely popular amongst the youth and many will serenade you with a rendition of ‘money, money, money’ and ‘gimme gimme gimme’. Hello Kenya →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. However the route is essentially structured into 4 stages over 3 months, using 4 different modes of transport. Fly from Johannesburg via Cairo on Tuesday 7 January 2014, arriving in Khartoum on the 8th. The next two days will be spent meeting, greeting and preparing with the Tour d’Afrique team for the long ride ahead. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

An epic journey from Egypt to Cape Town over 3 months on 4 modes of transport. February 9, 2014. It does have a very tourist feel thou and many local teenagers often fluent in several languages will offer to be your guide for the day at a decided price. It is definitely worth a visit if one is in Ethiopia. Tomorrow will see us making our way gladly back onto paved roads as we ride down to Bahir Dar. Bahir Dar →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Lilongwe via Lusaka to the Restfulness of Victoria Falls | Scott & Dani — Running Stix

Scott and Dani Running Stix. Lilongwe via Lusaka to the Restfulness of Victoria Falls. April 22, 2014. So I’m way behind in blogging, it looks like we left Lilongwe way back on March 31, and I still haven’t posted about it. I’ll blame lack of good internet and having too much fun in Victoria Falls. In Lusaka a bunch of us went to Captain America and out for dinner after… It was nice to feel western and human again! 8230; I’ll go up to Alaska and get it someday… or something! And a burger joint! My tent a...

Scott and Dani Running Stix. Monthly Archives: June 2014. Catching up on blogging! Cape Town and the End of TDA 2014. June 23, 2014. OK, this post should’ve been posted 2 months ago, but I’ve been busy (lol, ok not *that* busy), and just generally lazy posting it. But it needs to happen so I can continue on with other things! It was pretty incredible! It was well worth the climb! The next day I walked down to the water and around Lions Head to find myself in the richer part of town and eventually Camps B...

Scott and Dani Running Stix. Monthly Archives: January 2014. Catching up from Gadaref to Gondar. OR: How many ways can you get ill in Ethiopia? January 31, 2014. So this is a big update that I’m cramming lots of travel into, but just have too much going on to break it down any more than this. 😉. There was also gelato/ ice cream/ whatever which was amazing, and only 5 pounds (like 80c USD). And her other tire got a permanent heat bubble in it. Why are we riding in this? I crashed into bed hard at 7:20 or...

Scott and Dani Running Stix. October 3, 2013. Last week between stepping off the plane from Montreal on Monday night and going to bed on Sunday, I managed 100.5 kilometers of running over 5 days! 2 days). Since then, I’ve taken 3 days off. 🙁. I wish I could get the motivational problems under control and lock things on high (though I understand that’s unrealistic and unhealthy), 3 days now is a bit much. Must run tonight! What up, brain? Victorial Falls Activities! | Scott & Dani — Running Stix

http://runningstix.com/2014/04/22/victorial-falls-activities

Scott and Dani Running Stix. April 22, 2014. Lots to do in Africa’s adventure capital! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves! Victoria Falls bridge itself is on the border between the two countries, kind of in no man’s land? It was built in the early early 1900s as well, and has lasted! It was nice to find out that the lions we pet do not go into the real wild! They’re used as breeders for other lions that do. These ones get the fake wild. Oh hey, a Giraffe. Justin petting a lion. Bina petting a lion.

Scott and Dani Running Stix. Monthly Archives: February 2014. Bahir Dar to Addis Ababa Through the Blue Nile Gorge Complete with Baboons! February 21, 2014. Another exciting 5 days of rock throwing! Not every day was bad, but there was definitely some bad ones in there! Day 1 was Valentine’s day and we awoke to a nice surprise on all our lockers from Catharine who’d put hearts on all the name tags! And most of the bikes as well! Camp was off the road a bit in the middle of some trees, very unique so far!

Scott and Dani Running Stix. Victoria Falls to Maun… The Elephant Highway and My Last Days! April 22, 2014. So at Victoria Falls we did a booze cruise and I got drunk and everyone convinced me to stay on until Maun. So I did. One last country with the tour, Botswana! We started out with a sketchy ferry ride… I didn’t ride because my day two plan was 172 km on one of the African bikes… I have no idea why I thought this was a good plan… But this was what I wanted to do! For the rest of the day. Jennilea an...
