Grown at Mill Creek. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. I'm a little late with this weeks post, we were away for the weekend. Whilst we were gone our sunflowers enjoyed the best weather of the summer it was in the 30's all weekend. They are now 72" tall and beginning to flower, they are looking pretty good so far. The heat we have is humid so we are concerned about disease in the crop, but so far nothing too bad has occurred. Sunday, July 15, 2007. Sunday, July 8, 2007. Buds begining to form. Grown at Mill Creek. Sunday, July 1, 2007. Sunflowers approaching 2' tall. The Mill creek sunflowers are 22" tall this week ( we found one that was 25"), cultivating was stopped because of the rain. We got 2" on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, a lot less than many others in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. For us the rain was needed and the crops look great. Cultivating is now done, the crop is too high. In some spots the rows are begining to cover in. Today is Canada Day, and it is dull and damp outside.

Grown at Mill Creek. Monday, August 6, 2007. Spraying and full Bloom. Our sunflowers are now in full bloom and enjoying great weather, they are over 8" across the blooms and still growing. Grown at Mill Creek. Sunday, August 19, 2007. Our beautiful yellow sunflowers have finished blooming, they are now filling well and the heads are tipping over with their weight which is a good sign.
