I have been hit. On not being a ‘woman’! May be this might have struck you a long time back but my goodthinkingmind decided to write about it just now. I belong to a business oriented family and thus I have lots of Baniya (the merchant class here in India) friends. A canvas of wildflowers covers my room. Although dark, heavy curtains cover the single window,. Sunlight somehow manages to filter in. It only casts shadows of ache across the petals on the walls. I'm stuck between a wide smile. I never knew that such happiness. Could be felt with such failure. I sit on the edge of my bed. Looking at those darkly cheerful petals. I don't know what comes next. But I do know it will come, and I'll be OK. I sink back down, the warm sheets cover my head. Way to go, self!
