Über die angeschlossenen Kopfhörer sind neben klassischen Sprachbeiträgen und -erklärungen dreidimensionale Audioszenen zu erleben, wie zum Beispiel eine mittelalterliche Krönungsszene. Je nach Blickrichtung und Position im Raum hört man die Stimmen der verschiedenen Darsteller.

Audioguide der Stadt Aachen für das Rathaus und das Centre Charlemagne in neuer Gestalt und Technik - der Aixplorer II. Wie beim Gerät der ersten Generation kommt auch hier ein iPhone (nun ein G4S statt einem G3) zum Einsatz. Das markante Gehäuse ist nun wesentlich zierlicher aufgebaut, schützt das iPhone und ist außerdem mit einem Zusatzakku ausgestattet. Der Aixplorer wird demnächst auch in ganz Aachen einsetzbar sein. Das Projekt entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit der RWTH-Aachen.
