Musings about running . and life . and whatever else takes my fancy . Saturday, May 23, 2009. I think I've come to a bit of a crossroads in my life (this happens every now and again). The problem is one of motivation, specifically I'm not sure that I have enough of it anymore. In late 2006 I started running in order get some fitness back. I had planned to run a half marathon in May 2007 and maybe try a marathon at some point. Anyway in typical fashion my time frame got accelerated and entered my ...Next ...

Laura Redman Running in Royal Oak-. Sunday, November 25, 2007. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? This Ohio cross country runner is amazing! I hope the clip above works- it shows her nearly at the finish line, when her left leg breaks in three places, and, rather than forfeit the race, she literally crawls nearly 50 feet to the finish line! Amazing. She ran fast enough earlier in the race that she only came a few seconds slower than her PR- even w/ crawling that far to the finish. Links to this post. By the w...

Laura Redman Running in Royal Oak-. Sunday, July 27, 2008. Grand Island 10K Results. I accomplished my more humble, revised goal: I ran the trail race without stopping to walk. Despite sporadic training, I even ran up that insane hill! I spent the first mile reminding myself: hold back, hold back, hold back! Around mile 2.5, though, I discovered that my memory had greatly softened the steepness of the hill. At least I knew it would not last as long as I thought. Here is also where I gained on some th...

Did this year's Detroit Free Press Race with only a few hours of sleep after a Halloween party as princess Leia so kept some of the costume on. As this is the lent season, I am feeling the need for humility and full disclosure:. Saturday: Planned to...

Laura Redman Running in Royal Oak-. Saturday, March 29, 2008. This goes out to Jackie. You are the BEST Jackie! Thank you so much for helping me push past my rut during the long run this amat Stoney! It was deja-vu in reverse, but I don't think you were ever hurtin as bad as I was this am I sounded like a near heart attack victim during that last mile, but you kept ruthlessly pushing me, which is exactly what I wanted you to do! As I wax poetic about every bird and tree and lake we pass. So, I'm feeling ...

Laura Redman Running in Royal Oak-. Thursday, January 17, 2008. Photos of Arizona PF Chang half marathon. Thumbs up- this was about mile 7 and the guy taking the picture was sitting between the runners on one side of the interstate and cars on the other. The guys were hilairous: dressed as Roman running twins- they even had the same stride. UP to the victory party. My honored heroes and the sponsors who donated to the Leukemia society. Links to this post. Tuesday, January 15, 2008. HOw did you know that!
