A Minute With Falula

A Minute With Falula. Thoughts on my life (and sometimes yours, too) from the perspective of Falula, my Starbucks stand-in. Sunday, November 27, 2011. No doubt about it. God has blessed me with more than I could have ever imagined, or deserve. I try my best to teach that concept to The Boy, and this past week helped to illustrate some of the finer points of gratitude. I told him yes, and that he should lead it. I had a hard time making my "Amen" audible over the tears I was choking back. It's a call I st...

A Minute With Falula: Big Things, Little Things

http://www.aminutewithfalula.blogspot.com/2010/06/big-things-little-things.html

A Minute With Falula. Thoughts on my life (and sometimes yours, too) from the perspective of Falula, my Starbucks stand-in. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Big Things, Little Things. I - like most of you, although I'm kind of hoping it's pretty much all of you - have a hard time staying focused on what's really important in life. In my job, we have a saying. When we're preparing for battle (a discussion with a school principal, an employee, a colleague), we ask, "Is this the ditch I'm willing to die in? Wowtou...

A Minute With Falula. Thoughts on my life (and sometimes yours, too) from the perspective of Falula, my Starbucks stand-in. Tuesday, October 11, 2011. I got "the call" today. It's a call I start looking forward to in August. Once summer vacations are done, YMCA camp drop-offs are over, school is getting ready to start . I wait for the phone to ring. It'll be Dad on the other line. He'll make small talk, chat about weather and work, and then he'll get to the point. Can Not. Wait. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A Minute With Falula. Thoughts on my life (and sometimes yours, too) from the perspective of Falula, my Starbucks stand-in. Tuesday, May 11, 2010. The Sounds of Mother's Day. This past Sunday was a milestone of sorts for me. I celebrated my 10th Mother's Day. (Before you math whizzes start questioning whether I realize my son is only eight, just know that I found out I was expecting Jacob in May 2001. ). A blissful hour and a half later . "Mama, will you make me pancakes? Of course I will. Mom, Dad's not...

A Minute With Falula. Thoughts on my life (and sometimes yours, too) from the perspective of Falula, my Starbucks stand-in. Sunday, March 21, 2010. Will Jog for Pokemon. This weekend was pretty darn spectacular. Yesterday was crazed from sun-up to sundown. We raced through camp sign-up, errands, Jacob's afternoon soccer game, then to the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Race. Remembering my password to my computer at work? Knowing what day it is? But what if there was an incentive like Jake's? Only instead of c...

http://cathedralbuilding.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 31, 2012. Photo of the Day.8/31/12."Hidden". One of our favorite things to do when spending time on the beaches of northern Michigan is to hunt for petoskey stones. But to find them.you have to get wet.even venturing out into the water. because their spots are hidden until they get wet. But the hunt is rewarded. Building Cathedrals: More Than a Song

http://cathedralbuilding.blogspot.com/2013/05/more-than-song.html

Wednesday, May 29, 2013. More Than a Song. We were on our way home from a family camping trip. The windows were down and we were all singing along, as joyfully noisy as possible, with Casting Crowns' Jesus, Friend of Sinners. And as I let the line "A plank-eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided" roll from my lips, I stopped in my tracks. Had I noticed that specific reference before.about the plank-eyed saint? I immediately tied it to Jesus's teaching from Matthew 7:3-5. July 17, 2013 at 7:55 PM.

Building Cathedrals: April 2012

http://cathedralbuilding.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 4, 2012. At the last practice and performance, wanting to see what the spectators saw when they watched the squad perform their halftime dance, the coaches told the girls that they weren't going to dance with them. But, if they got lost in the routine, to look to Rachael because she knew it. Do I invite in any examples that allow me to lower my standards for myself (i.e. "well, at least I'm not that bad compared to.")? And, as I raise three young ladies, what example am I providing?

Building Cathedrals: Psalm 23...A Psalm for the Living

http://cathedralbuilding.blogspot.com/2013/01/psalm-23a-psalm-for-living.html

Friday, January 18, 2013. Psalm 23.A Psalm for the Living. As we wrapped up our discussion, my 15-year-old remarked, "It seems that it would be more appropriate to read that when a child is born than when someone dies.I think I'll do that when my children are born." What a wonderful tradition using this beautiful piece of Scripture that will be! Butrest assured.I can wait to experience it. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Friday, October 12, 2012. It has been my pleasure and privilege to be visiting Dorie's Promise Orphanage, operated by Forever Changed International, in Guatemala this past week. As my trip begins to wrap up, I wanted to share some lessons learned or refreshed. I take a roof that doesn't leak for granted. I take a roof that doesn't fall for granted. I take water that I can drink directly from our tap for granted. I take the privilege of being born in the United States for granted. I am a happily married h...

Building Cathedrals: Air Mail

Tuesday, November 13, 2012. The next night.long after the kids had been put to bed.and just as we were getting ready to crash ourselves.our bedroom door opened and another plane sailed into our realm, followed by another noisy retreat. This message said the following: "MY MOM and DAD 2.My mom lets me play on her nook.My dad is fun.by Marrin". Truth be told.I'm hoping that a "DAD and MOM 3" appears tonight. Fame because of the way her curly new hairdo looks. Well, she had the last word. Orrin Woodward Blo...

A Minute to Think

A Minute to Think. I learned early in life that it pays to step back, draw a deep breath and pause. for a minute to think. To think about what's really important. And to focus on what truly matters in life. Before it's too late and being remembered for something less than what each of us can be. Sunday, August 27, 2006. Posted by Azlan at 9:00 AM. Saturday, August 26, 2006. Would it make a difference if we had a two-minute warning before losing temper or saying something stupid? Martha at her peak?

A minute with guetig. Spend a minute, save a minute. Oh, hello 2015. It seems every new post that I make has the obligatory beginning of "It's been so long since I've posted! With that in mind, I have some news to share. It's been nine months since my last confession, and while it's definitely not baby related ('cause everyone seems to be havin' babies around me), I suppose it does involve some rebirths. For the sake of ease and time, I'll simply list them below:. The romantic comedy, Split. A short film...

A Minute With Madeline. Taking Time Out to Blog About Life. Friday, July 30, 2010. Shine is a fun day camp where you prepare for Middle school. Today was my last day to be there. Over the week we have made art, and we have also done several other things like meet people who will be at your school. I loved making art! The first day we painted on a big board. Most turned out really cute! Then we made picture frames. They were really fun to paint! Then we also made a scrapbook of our week at Shine! My favor...
