Saturday, January 31, 2009. Monterey, Day Two. Our hotel is right on the beach, and I fell asleep last night to the sound of the ocean. It was so rhythmic and relaxing, it made me (almost) understand why people buy those cheesy noise machines from Brookstone. But, there's no substitution for the real thing, and I slept like a baby. I woke up this morning to this gorgeous view from our window. I totally snapped a picture. I am turning into my mother, God help me. We strolled around the shops in Carmel and...

Friday, November 27, 2009. Last weekend, my mom and I traveled to San Diego to participate in The Breast Cancer 3-Day. Benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The 3-Day is a 60-mile walk, approximately 20 miles per day. I had heard great things about the walk from Amber. So, it was a pretty powerful weekend. Here's us right before the opening ceremony at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. We look so happy and energetic. The energy did not last. :). And, we were off! How cute is my mom? I have to say that one of th...

Sunday, November 30, 2008. We had a whole mess of people over at our house to celebrate our day of gratitude and gluttony. Nineteen people, to be exact. This was especially ambitious given I had (very routine) surgery on Tuesday. Thank God for my mom who flew in from Alaska. My grandma's first reaction was, of course, "Where are you going to. All of those people? Well, we cleared out our formal living room and rented some chairs. It ended up working out pefectly. Some pics of our Thanksgiving table.

Sunday, March 29, 2009. I cannot believe my little baby sister is 26. Holy Lord. To celebrate, she had a get together with her med school friends on Friday night. Josh and I drove out there after work and hung out with a bunch of her pals. There were a ton of people (duh, everyone loves Bug! And my sis was mouthy and bouncy as ever. Saturday, we had a family bbq to celebrate her birthday. The weather was beautiful. That, plus family and a fridge full of beer and wine, what more could we ask for? Unfortun...

Sunday, March 14, 2010. I do not profess to be crafty. (I can knit, but that's it.) I am not even terribly domestic. But, last May, I ordered a very basic sewing machine on a whim after being inspired by looking at some incredible quilts by Denyse Schmidt. After looking at her quilts, I felt the desire to create. Something. It was, perhaps, a reaction to the stress that I wanted to make something "pretty." Or, maybe I am nesting. Who knows. I am in love with anything by Fig Tree Quilts. I gave it to Bug ...

Sunday, January 3, 2010. Paris, Day 6: Notre Dame, Saint-Séverin, Panthéon, and Jardin du Luxembourg. A picture of the interior of Notre Dame. After Mass, we went to see Sainte-Chapelle, tied with Notre Dame in my book for most beautiful Parisian church. However, the line was over two blocks long. There was so much more to see, Josh suggested we keep moving, so we did. Next time. :). Our next stop was Saint-Séverin, a lovely old church on the Left Bank. Alexandre Dumas and Victor Hugo. But first, lunch!

Friday, June 18, 2010. On April 17th, my little sis married the love of her life. I could not have imagined a more perfect wedding. It was beautiful and so much fun. Their wedding was at Walnut Grove, a really unique outdoor spot that suited them perfectly. Below are some photos taken by the wonderful Kimberlee Miller. The ceremony . about to begin. Bug, Anthony, and their devilish dog, Pazzi, who came by for pictures. Anthony cracks me up. Dad daughter. So sweet. Their exit. Love this photo. First, the ...

The Schwee Way: April 2008
http://theschweeway.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
A Day in the Life of Schwee. Saturday, April 26, 2008. The Countdown Has Begun. I believe people think I am nuts. Maybe I am. And this is just the beginning. I'm already looking forward to my Summer Weekend. It would be more enjoyable if it wasn't a holiday weekend so I could go somewhere, ie camping. On the other hand, I will not have to study for three whole days! Ha, and I still wonder why people think I'm nuts. Thursday, April 17, 2008. Two for the road. Mind you, I'm in the express lane too!

Thursday, December 31, 2009. Paris, Day 3: Musée d'Orsay, Montmatre, and Sacré Coeur. It's another gloriously gray day here in Paris. Our alarm actually worked properly this morning, and we were up drinking coffee and eating a croissant at 9am before meeting up with Aunt Jody and Kohl. After our quick breakfast, we headed to Musée d'Orsay. Josh, Aunt Jody, and Kohl at the entrance. We had some drama at the ticket counter and felt this sculpture represented our feelings well. :). Paintings by Claude Monet.
