The Inevitable Risk of Words. June 7, 2016. Meditatio House: Goodbye, Farewell, and Community. After calling London home for the last two years I now find myself back in Australia. My time at Meditatio London House has come to an end. The last two years have been, for me, an exploration and a deepening in the experience of meditation and community. Outer life of love. Commitment to this together practice is the most important thing. Success is secondary. Community was important to John Main. He highl...

The Inevitable Risk of Words. August 5, 2016. The Shed: Be, In Time. As time goes on here at the shed I find that I am adapting to the rhythms of nature around me. This has affected the way I move through the day. It’s wonderful to feel a part of the life around me, to be with the trees as they move, the birds as they fly, the possums as they screech at night (so far they haven’t kept me awake). Around 1 or so I’ll go for a walk, perhaps to a nearby beach or the river, or the ocean head. By 2pm the sun h...

Wednesday Retreat: On Prayer
http://wednesdayretreat.blogspot.com/2016/06/on-prayer.html
What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action - Meister Eckhart. Thursday, 2 June 2016. The first day of winter, and a mild but still wintry looking day - the trees and grasses a little bleak. The news this week also a little (a lot) bleak: unprecedented and seemingly catastrophic bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef, and all that it signifies about what we are continuing not. To do to respond to climate change. Simone Weil says that prayer is about attention. It's...

Methodist Doctrine, Spirit, Discipline. Friday, August 28, 2015. Easily offended or loving? John Wesley's first publication, Collection of Forms of Prayer for Every Day in the Week. 1733), is part prayer book and part self-examination book. The book is organized so that a set of self-examination questions prepare the reader for the prayer that follows. (A sample. Of the book is available on Google Books.). I found such a list in Victorious Living. Am I easily offended, or am I loving? I confess. Yes,...
