Poetic Acts – Better Bibles Blog
https://betterbibles.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/poetic-acts
Ideas for improving Bible translations. July 30, 2013. July 30, 2013. The preceding post, by Peter Kirk, was about “poetic” and “accessible” language. This post is another about scripture set to poetry. I have just received a copy of The Apostles’ Acts — In Verse, by my friend James Vasquez. James has written seven books of poetry. Based on scripture. James writes in classical poetic metre and rhyme. Here is James’ rendition of Acts 17:22-34:. Paul stood to view each person there. An altar most remarkable.

Blog contributors – Better Bibles Blog
https://betterbibles.wordpress.com/about/blog-contributors
Ideas for improving Bible translations. By training, I’m a Software Engineer. By profession, I’m a Data Security Consultant currently working for a one of the Blues in the health insurance industry. By heart, I’m an amateur linguist who seeks, with the undeserved gifts God has so kindly given, better Bible translations. More than anything else I want Bible translations that, when coupled with a humble attitude, incarnate the Spirit of God into the lives of his people. May God be gracious to us all. The l...

POLLS – Better Bibles Blog

Ideas for improving Bible translations. 5 thoughts on “ POLLS. March 7, 2011 at 4:41 am. Nobody comments on the polls? Okay, in our church, I think the translation is ESV, but the missal the priest reads from is different (I’m guessing KJV since I can usually remember the passages as they’re read). When I was a kid, Douay-Rheims and KJV were *it*. I’ve been to churches that use NAB and I’m not overly fond of hearing that trans. Squicks me out a bit. September 3, 2012 at 9:20 pm. 2 King James Version.

I have slightly edited his text, updating punctuation and citation, altering his bible quotes to the ESV, and only changing those words which could be misunderstood today. Before I begin, let me give a quick plug: I've started. These are the very words that Jesus said when He instituted the Sacrament of Holy Supper. "Because the Words ( verba. Variations on a Liturgical Theme: April 2012
http://liturgicalvariations.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Variations on a Liturgical Theme. Exploring the liturgical lexicon. Sunday, April 8, 2012. A few years ago, a college professor gave me wise advise: when it comes to big holidays like Christmas and Easter, don't overdo it. Today, I saw why. But also in the mind of the worshiper, holidays like Easter are the times to pull out all the stops. That is, people want to sing and sing loudly. They are filled with the glee of Easter morn and want to let it out. Sunday, April 08, 2012. Links to this post. The Love...

The ruminations, cogitations and occasional insights of Curt Parton. A biblical case for senior pastors? September 1, 2015. October 2, 2015. Most evangelical churches today have a senior or lead pastor. Can we make a solid, biblical case to establish this practice?
