About: An American in Sydney. Mom in a Mum’s World. Between Roots and Wings. An American in Sydney, finding adventures and making a home. February 9, 2015. In the first year or so that I lived in Sydney, I tackled most of the must-do tourist agenda items that you’ll find in guide books. In the ensuing years, I’ve managed a lot more locally known destinations, and found our own favorite neighborhood spots (may I humbly suggest this post called Post-Tourist. 2 The Grounds of Alexandria. Speaking of coffee&...

A life lesson from our week in Yamba, northern New South Wales. November 16, 2016. November 19, 2016. jouljet: Drinking In The Sunset At Fira
http://jouljet.blogspot.com/2015/05/drinking-in-sunset-at-fira.html
Thursday, May 07, 2015. Drinking In The Sunset At Fira. I had expected the terraces of white dwellings, restaurants and bars, fancy hotels, and walkways and laneways along the sea edge of Santorini's Fira to be overloaded with people trying to take in the sight of the sun setting over the volcanic island in the bay and sinking into the water. I wondered at one point whether there was somewhere else I was supposed to be, that perhaps I was missing out on something else. Where was everyone? Tegan xx - Perm...

Melbourne Architexture
http://seasaltsecrets.com/2015/08/melbourne-architexture
August 16, 2015. Melbourne has a way of capturing the heart, mind and senses. I find myself whisked away by the buzzing neighbourhoods, superb street art. And towering buildings by day and sparkling lights as the sun goes down. It’s no wonder Melbourne is voted one of the world’s most livable cities. Come take a walk with me, won’t you? Flinder’s Street Station. Boasting grand archways and a lesser-known hidden, abandoned ballroom, this architectural marvel captures the eyes and hearts of millions. B...
What it's really like to drive with a toddler in the car - The Thud
http://the-thud.com/what-its-really-like-to-drive-with-a-toddler-in-the-car
Reporting from the frontline of parenthood. Letters to the Editor. What it’s really like to drive with a toddler in the car. August 9, 2015. There is no worse driver on the road than a mother with a small child in the car. I’m sorry, but it’s true. If you’re looking for the driver who’s paying the least attention to the road, you’ll find her behind the wheel of the car with the ‘Baby on Board’ sign swinging in the back window. Much safer when pulled over to watch roos on the side of the road. Obviously t...

July 19, 2015. 35 Comments on Birth. I am a huge fan of birth stories. And I am also a little obsessed with birth videos. I recently watched that freakin phenomenal video of a woman giving birth to a 10 pound baby in the car. And it made me think about whether I should write about the birth of my baby AKA The Burrito AKA The Christmas Ham (pink and delicious). The baby made me find myself a bit. This blog has made me rediscover myself a lot. You know how I said I love birth videos? Needless to say, it di...

Saturday, July 18, 2015. In the not so distant past, I acquired another cat (read about him here. In the not so distant future, I will be buying a new TV. From clues left behind by the purrpetrator, it appears Beau knocked the sound bar off the TV stand, and the sound bar hit the screen, damaging the display at point of contact. I would be more upset, but the display on this TV has been problematic for a while, so now I have an excuse to buy a new TV. And lock Beau out of the den. Thursday, May 21, 2015.
