Dongzhai National Nature Reserve. I've finally been to the nature reserve! For three whole days! I've been helping another student who is studying the Yellow-bellied Tit. He keeps them in cages and makes different feeding experiments of them, recording how they eat mealworms for example. My responsibility was to check the mist-nets, which were empty most of the time, leaving me loads of time to explore the surrounding area. The Reeve's Pheasant ( Syrmaticus reevsii. Mountain Bulbul ( Ixos mcclellandii.

Five days ago I left the study area to join my dad on a trip through the Henan and Hebei provinces, final destination being Beijing, from where we fly home on Monday next week. So far we've been to Xinyang, Luoyang, Zhengzhou and today we arrived in Shijuazhuang. It's nice to finish my China-visit with a little bit of touristing. Longmen caves. The stone carvings are incredible, but the highlight for me was a Wallcreeper ( Tichodroma muriara. Falsterbo 2015 - pt.2. Falsterbo 2015 - pt. 1. Djur har så län...

Falsterbo 2015 - pt.2. The season is drawing closer and closer to it's end and I have less than two weeks left in Falsterbo before it's time to return home. Fortunately I have enough pictures to last me 10 blogposts! So far this season we have caught more than 20 Sparrowhawks. The big migration of small songbirds is a feast for them and they are a pest to have around the nets - except for when they get caught! Though, which is closing up on 2000 birds ringed. Next picture) caught a Hobby. We brought the ...

Spring Break in Beijing. Me and Ed arrived in Beijing on Thursday and have settled into a small apartment belonging to the professor who runs the project we're working on. It's a tiny little apartment but it has a kitchen, AC, shower and flushing toilet, which feels godsent after a month in the Chen's house! Back at the Chen's house everyone is busy preparing for the Spring Festival, which means the homecoming of family members working in other parts of China. Falsterbo 2015 - pt.2. It's birding time!: Orange is the new black
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2015/07/orange-is-new-black.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. Orange is the new black. In late July, many adult waders are already in migration, specially the orange coloured ones: Red Knot. Also, good numbers of Dunlins. Nabben and the Mäklappen beach, to the south-west corner of the peninsula, are two of the best places for birding in the area. There were lots of waders a few days ago, with an specially nice flock of about 150 Knots. I tried to make a video using my phone and the scope, here you can see the result. We got 19 adult Dunlins.
It's birding time!: March 2015
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. In case you didn't know. :P. March is always a great month because of the first arrivals of many migrant species. Some, as Swallows and many waders, already appear on late February, but March is always better for them. This situation, the beggining of migration, always produce me some sort of ecstasy that will persist until June. Migration is ON. You may know what I mean if you're birder too. That feeling that almost anything can be flying over you at any time. Of the year too.
It's birding time!: December 2014
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. As I already did in 2012. Here it is the 2014's Top 5. I always find very hard to make a ranking, which could mean a sort of 'order of preferences'. With this year's top 5, with very heavy experiences for me, the numbers should only be considered as a way to list them. All of them are very special in their sort of way! During this year I've seen all usual Palearctic Eagles. The first one was a Greater Spotted Eagle. Some Lesser Spotted Eagles. And some Steppe Eagles. The mos...
It's birding time!: September 2014
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Since I came back home, and as I also did last year. I started a ringing campaign in my usual place: l'Aiguamoll de la Bòbila. The 'start of the season' was nice, with 62 birds ringed, but it turned to be really slow the next mornings. Here, transaharan species are still the commonest migrants, and just the firsts presaharans are appearing. During my lasts days in Falsterbo, Robins. Nice surprise the first day of campaign. Commonest migrants at the beggining,. First-year star...
It's birding time!: February 2015
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 25, 2015. That's exactly what Yasmina lake is: an oasis. For a bird (let's imagine a tiny one, a Willow Warbler for instance) that just has crossed the sandy Sahara, a small (or not that small.) lake, with some tamarisks to hide in and eat some stuff before continue its travel, must be like a paradise for them. For more information of the ringing campaign and birds around Yasmina, click here. It actually is a paradise even for people (at least for me). Just take a look. Is a common wi...

It's birding time!: Getting away from the average
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2015/08/getting-away-from-average.html
Saturday, August 15, 2015. Getting away from the average. The Falsterbo Bird Observatory webpage. Contains a huge lot of information. I can spend hours looking at differents things, and the information never ends. This season we started very close to the average, sometimes over. The big numbers of Sand Martins. We had in the beggining of the season made this possible. Nonetheless, we are already more than 300 birds below the average, with more than 400 Reed Warblers. Ringed at Flommen in 2010 as adult.
It's birding time!: May 2015
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 28, 2015. It has passed almost a whole spring and I've been posting almost nothing, but that shouldn't indicate a lack of activity. In fact, I've been probably too busy to stop and write. Summer is coming, I'm sure I'll find time to summarise the most interesting stuff. One of the most exciting things I've been involved this spring: another visit to Illa de l'Aire. A small island south of Menorca (Balearic Islands) where a lot of friends from SOM. The island is probably the first part of la...
It's birding time!: November 2014
http://birdingmarc.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 28, 2014. As November is passing, many nice 'winter species' are appearing. This year was inicially good for Siskins. At least in my usual areas. I've also seen some Redwings. In migration, but for the moment, not so many Bramblings. Also, many Wallcreepers. Have been seen in low but typical areas. This season in Falsterbo. Has been extremely good for Goldcrests. Althouh I'm full of work to do during these days, I've managed to do some birding/ringing when I had a litlle bit of time.

Bird Nerd
Adventures of a Field Ornithologist. Saturday, September 7, 2013. I love to think that these wild animals are out there…secretive and not seen by many and not affected by people in their everyday lives. Recently, I have learned differently. I have attended a couple mountain lion talks about studies being done in California and have found that although these animals don’t come into contact with people often, they are greatly affected by us by the poisons we put into the ecosystem. The Bird Nerd's Homepage
In an effort to improve both my birding and my photography, I have decided to keep this photo-list. I'm trying to see just how many different species of bird I can photograph—and having a picture certainly makes identification easier. I've listed the ones I've shot alphabetically by common name. Someday I may branch out into galleries based on themes like "Hawaii" or "Hawks," but that's down the road. Heron, Great Blue.

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:. I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.). 8230;or something like this:.
