The Black Mountains are situated predominately in the Brecon Beacons National Park in South East Wales, although its eastern peak The Black Mountain itself lies partly in Herefordshire and is the highest point in England south of the Yorkshire Dales! Black Mountains Gliding Club. Black Mountains Gliding Club. The UK's best ridge and wave gliding site. Pilot development and training. Talgarth airfield is home to a small and very active gliding club, 970 feet above sea level in the stunning scenery of the Black Mountains. In a northerly wind the ridges work from Hay Bluff down into the Brecon Beacons, and beyond for the more adventurous and experienced hill pilot. The club fleet consists of two K13s, a K21, a Junior, a K6CR, a Pirat and a Pawnee tug.
