Rise Above The Storm: August 2011
http://risingabovethestorm.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Rise Above The Storm. Thursday, August 4, 2011. Capital Square - Downtown Madison. Although this place is now chalked up and filled with posters, this place is still very beautiful. I especially love Wednesday nights during the summer for their concerts. The place fills and it turns into a great place for people watching - which I love! Open windows and fresh air. Homemade Salsa. YUM! An awakened love for reading - thank you Karen Kingsbury! Tomorrow's lunch date with a sweet friend and her daughter!

http://risingabovethestorm.blogspot.com/2011/11/thankful-november-day-19.html
Rise Above The Storm. Sunday, November 20, 2011. Thankful November: Day 19. I'm thankful for.my parents! Circa 2010 - Mt. Rushmore. Do you have ever one of those days when you think, "I'm turning into my mom." or "I'm turning into my dad."? The older I get, the more I have those moments. But lately, I've noticed that when that happens, I'm not hiding in terror because I'm becoming them, I'm smiling because I can't think of anyone else I'd rather emulate. God has blessed me with parents that have stuck ar...

Rise Above The Storm: June 2011
http://risingabovethestorm.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Rise Above The Storm. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. I'm not sure if there is anything quite as sweet as what I witnessed the other night. My little brother (who really isn't so little anymore) had a double header baseball game, which meant we showed up to lend a little support and cheer him on. This is why being an aunt/uncle is simply amazing! One of the not so great parts of the night - my brother and sister-in-laws SUV. Not so great! Monday, June 27, 2011. How cool is that? Tuesday, June 21, 2011. To the ...

Jill Tiefel: Mascot week kickoff: Trax
http://jilltiefel.blogspot.com/2010/10/mascot-week-kickoff-trax.html
Mascot week kickoff: Trax. Meet Trax. He's the mascot for our local semi-pro baseball team. At a baseball game at Carson Park over the summer, I observed that Trax frightened young fans, albeit unintentionally. I can relate. Describing Trax is problematic. To what species does he belong? The closest I've come to an accurate description is "a carrot with mumps.". So, this post officially kicks off Mascot Awareness Week. Visit each day to meet a new mascot. Posted by Jill Tiefel. Jill Tiefel: Craftermath
http://jilltiefel.blogspot.com/2013/09/craftermath.html
Speaking of family celebrations, my sisters and I have one that has taken on a life of its own: Craft Night. It started about 10 years ago when my sister invited us over to her house to make gel candles. (These are the ones that supposedly explode. Wait. What? As if a candle wasn't incendiary anyway.) We had a blast. (HA! So recently, when my cousin Beth and my great-aunt Betty came to visit, it seemed a perfect opportunity to have Craft Night. After all, scissors wine = good ideas! Jill Tiefel: October 2012
http://jilltiefel.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Thoughts about the election. I got a request from one of my faithful readers ( Hi, Mom! To post an update. Here's something that occurred to me last week, when I gave two of my sixth grade volleyball players a ride to the game. While driving, I overheard them in the back seat discussing the upcoming election. One of them said to the other, "You just can't trust anything that they say. The one guy will say something about the other guy and he will say something back about him.". It's a sobering thought.
