Pamela Henry, a VME volunteer, put a considerable effort into developing and donating a manual to the Blink effort. The Blink Manual is available in the downloads. Section of the Blink site. The Place For The Latest News On Blink. Saturday, April 11, 2009. For simplicity, Blink expects to see switch input as a left mouse click. Some switch input devices do this natively, others may require expensive, third party devices to perform the translation. Of course with a little patience, some soldering skills, and some inexpensive parts, you can perform a simple mouse hack. And do this on the cheap. The Place For The Latest News On Blink. Saturday, March 14, 2009. Over the winter holidays I demonstrated the Blink software to some friends. One of them, a teacher, was excited on how this software could help him in the classroom. Well, one thing led to another and we will be presenting Blink at the upcoming MICCA Conference. A conference for Maryland Educators Using Technology. We are currently developing the presentation and will be posting it to the Blink site after the conference.

The Blink effort started in response to a brown bag presentation and call for help. Highlights from this brown bag include:. Almost 20 years ago, Volunteers for Medical Engineering (VME). Developed a system to help a disabled man who could only blink to communicate with his family. They designed and built a mechanism and software to create what is now called the Blink System.". Blink System, LLC is focused on improving the quality of life for the disabled by developing affordable software solutions.

The Blink software operates in one of three modes selected from the menu. This is a simple point and click mode used for people that have full mouse control. As text is being composed, word and phrase suggestions matching the input are provided. Blink learns words and phrases used to improve future suggestions. In this mode rows are highlighted one at a time. On a mouse click, row scanning switches to column scanning. Once a cell is selected, the action is performed.
