I Finally Tinker with my Arduino - Brian's Blog

https://blog.brianmoses.net/2015/05/i-finally-tinker-with-my-arduino.html

I Finally Tinker with my Arduino. I have had an Arduino Leonardo. Clone for months (years? But I’ve never gotten around to playing with it. In fact the Arduino. Has an open source integrated development environment (IDE) where you can write code and upload it to the Arduino to put that hardware to use. Part of my hesitation was based largely on ignorance. Over the years, I’ve skimmed over many Arduino. And load a sketch to the Arduino that made the onboard LED flash in minutes. Similarly, we’ve had...

Organizing my Toolbox - Brian's Blog

https://blog.brianmoses.net/2015/05/organizing-my-toolbox.html

Upon embarking on my Garage Makeover project. After buying our first home, I realized what a sad state of affairs my set of tools was. Most of my tools were stuff I’d used in upgrading my computer. Or building a DIY NAS server. The new tool set led to me having an abundance (and many redundant) set of tools which caused a second problem: I had nowhere to keep them. To rectify that I wound up picking out a Craftsman top chest. To house my miscellaneous tools. I found A Better Socket Organizer. Before at a...

Building a NAS: Choosing Hardware - Brian's Blog

https://blog.brianmoses.net/2012/01/do-it-yourself-network-attached-storage.html

Building a NAS: Choosing Hardware. Since starting the project up to wire my house with Ethernet. I have been thinking of interesting ways to put my network to use. For awhile now, we have been using a Western Digital Media player and an external USB hard drive to watch video content on the television. With products like Google TV. Most of my thinking was spurred on by a recent sale that Drobo. Because of my requirements,I started off by researching quite a few enclosures, both USB and NAS-type devices&#4...

The First Night With My Racilio Silvia. Is an awesome guy. He wanted to pay me back for many years of various sorts of technical help, blog-related advice, Piwik hosting, and virtual private server hosting, so he decided to buy me an espresso machine. Not just any espresso machine, but one of the best espresso machines you can buy without spending thousands of dollars on an actual commercial machine. He bought me a Rancilio Silvia. My First Shipment from Craft Coffee Has Arrived - Patshead.com Blog

http://blog.patshead.com/2014/05/my-first-shipment-from--craft-coffee-has-arrived.html

My First Shipment from Craft Coffee Has Arrived. I enjoy coffee. I use my low-end pump driven espresso machine to make a latte. For myself almost every day. When I first bought the espresso machine, I was grinding cheap coffee beans from the grocery store. Just about the fanciest brand I used was Dunkin Donuts. I was happy enough with the Dunkin Donuts lattes for a few years. That all changed when I moved back to Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. I went to the Central Market. From Addison Coffee Roasters.

http://blog.patshead.com/2014/05/i-bought-a-3d-printer-i-have-no-idea-what-im-doing.html

I Bought a 3D Printer: I Have No Idea What I'm Doing. I bought a 3D printer. I’ve wanted one ever since reading about the old MakerBot Cupcake almost five years ago. Now I finally have one, and I’m very excited. Things have come a long way in four years. The printer I chose has a build area twice as wide, twice as long, and over 50% taller than those old MakerBot Cupcake machines. I decided to buy a used printer. I thought I had my choices narrowed down to just two printers from two different vendors&#46...

Cocktail Arcade Cabinet Upgrade: Part 3 - The Conclusion - Patshead.com Blog

http://blog.patshead.com/2013/01/cocktail-arcade-cabinet-upgrade-part-3---the-conclusion.html

Cocktail Arcade Cabinet Upgrade: Part 3 - The Conclusion. The physical aspects of this upgrade project. Have been finished for quite a while now. This write up has just been on hold waiting for me to borrow a better camera than the one in my old Samsung Galaxy S phone. Not much has really been done since my last update. Here is a collection of photos progressing from the earliest stages of the build right up to the present:. This is most definitely cheating. Why not just build an upright arcade cabinet?

Friday, November 2, 2012. Gena and Rick Wedding preview. We had a great time this last weekend at Gena and Rick's wedding at Wine and Roses in Lodi. It was a perfect autumn day, and the location was terrific for an outdoor wedding. I am in the middle of sorting through all the images and putting them online for Gena to choose what she wants in her album, but I wanted to give a little preview of what's coming! I can't wait for you to see the rest of 'em! Posted by Brian Mealey. Tuesday, February 21, 2012.

Atlanta based commercial and editorial photographer seeks travel, adventure and stories to share. This was a fun project (Well, okay really they all are) and a bit out of the ordinary for me. I managed to get my hands on a lovely arca swiss 4x5 view camera, an assortment of sexy lenses and an IQ160 digital back for the weekend. In the mean time, go say hello to Arthur and Richard over at Piercing Experience. In Candler Park. They were both super rad and gracious hosts. Most recently, Batman: Arkham Asylu...

Trade Wars 2002: My First Gaming Addiction. A long, long time ago in a decade we refer to as “the 80s,” I was a fledgling computer geek—a fire sparked and stoked by my parents when they purchased a used Apple IIe. In the midst of my tween years, one of my older cousins came over with a handful of floppy disks and showed me a number of new things. One of the things he introduced me to was the world of dial-up bulletin board systems (BBS). And by the time he left that afternoon, I was hooked! Occupied the ...

My challenges and successes in building a RepStrap machine. It's based on the RepRap project, but I've made adjustments to make it easier (for me) to build without a lot of printed parts, and it has a larger print area. Saturday, April 2, 2011. This is my largest print to date. It measures 10 by 10 by 3 and was printed in two parts that took more than 24 hours each. Even so, it is still just the front half of the teeth of an orca whale. Monday, January 10, 2011. Saturday, October 30, 2010. To create the ...
