Bridge Problems: Problem 20 resolved

http://bridgeproblems.blogspot.com/2006/04/problem-20-resolved.html

Real-life bridge problems. Give your opinions in the comments. Mostly bidding. Wednesday, April 26, 2006. I bid 3C to try to keep them out of a red suit and to play 3C rather than 2S. This worked out well; partner held. Q9x immaterial immaterial J (I think he had some detritus in the reds, but not much, maybe just the diamond jack. 5 hearts 4 diamonds I think? When I bid 3C, it actually went pass pass double. I got the jack of spades lead and made an overtrick. Posted by Mike Develin at 11:13 AM.

Bridge Problems: Problem 19 resolved

http://bridgeproblems.blogspot.com/2006/04/problem-19-resolved.html

Real-life bridge problems. Give your opinions in the comments. Mostly bidding. Tuesday, April 25, 2006. The full hand is approximately:. The opponents actually sat for 1Cx at the table. According to double dummy analysis, 1C is down two on a spade or tiny club lead, makes on the HQ lead, and is down one otherwise. However, on a small heart lead, if partner fails to insert the 9, then the contract is makable (though it's nontrivial and declarer understandably failed to play exactly right).

Real-life bridge problems. Give your opinions in the comments. Mostly bidding. Tuesday, November 07, 2006. Problem 28: Regional bracket 2 KO, 5/30/06. IMPs Favorable, 2nd seat, KQxx xx Kxxx KTx. The auction begins:. 1C P 1H P. What do you think partner should have? What do you bid now? Posted by Li-Chung Chen at 1:01 PM. I don't really understand why 2nt should show better clubs. it's just pick a minor. how else can he ask for a minor? Partner had something like Jx AQx xxx QJ8xx. If you bid 3C, lefty...

Real-life bridge problems. Give your opinions in the comments. Mostly bidding. Tuesday, November 07, 2006. Problem 34: All Western open pairs, day 2, 9/3/06. Matchpoints. Both vul, 4th seat, good opps, AKJT986532 T8 void J, 1D P 2C(GF) to you. What approach do you take? Posted by Li-Chung Chen at 3:40 PM. 5s perhaps they will double and miss slam, or bid 6 and miss 7, or bid 6 and go down on bad breaks. 5s applies the maximum pressure. i will not bid again. Bridge Problems: Problem 29: Regional bracket 3 KO, 6/2/06

http://bridgeproblems.blogspot.com/2006/11/problem-29-regional-bracket-3-ko-6206.html

Real-life bridge problems. Give your opinions in the comments. Mostly bidding. Tuesday, November 07, 2006. Problem 29: Regional bracket 3 KO, 6/2/06. IMPs Favorable, 4th seat, AQ8xxx Axx xx Jx. Partner opens 1D and righty overcalls 1NT. You double (do you? All pass (opponents do not seem to have runouts planned). What do you lead? Posted by Li-Chung Chen at 1:13 PM. It is very normal to double and lead the fourth best spade. I expect this to happen at 75% of tables in a strong field, no? An entry-shiftin...
