British Modern Socialist

A commentary on politics for all those socialist thinking people out there. Tuesday, 23 April 2013. Time for a housing policy that actual houses the needy. David Cameron a few years ago was talking about deadbeat dads, not paying their share, but at the same time dad's are forced to live in box rooms, driving old polluting cars and living a half life, being estranged from their children. This is a spiral which will not end until one of two things happen. Both require government intervention. It i...In my...

British Modern Socialist: November 2009

http://britishmodernsocialist.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

A commentary on politics for all those socialist thinking people out there. Sunday, 22 November 2009. Time for a return to fairer taxation. I don't particularly get into how much tax is paid by an individual when it comes to VAT, but I would like to explore the burden of tax as compared to an individual's income. I did some quick figures, not too scientific, on how much our Income tax, VAT and excise on Fuel, National Insurance and Council Tax. The point here though is that although someone may be on a b...

British Modern Socialist: June 2010

http://britishmodernsocialist.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

A commentary on politics for all those socialist thinking people out there. Thursday, 24 June 2010. Cuts that Thatcher would be proud of. It's ironic that twenty years after the iron lady was deposed that her new breed has in one month gone even further than she would have dreamed of. Every Government department faces 25% cuts outside of the NHS. And International aid. Of course the real changes that Mr Osbourne's budget will be felt on estates and towns across the country, not in Whitehall. The first is...

British Modern Socialist: March 2010

http://britishmodernsocialist.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

A commentary on politics for all those socialist thinking people out there. Wednesday, 17 March 2010. New Tories, same old values. After watching yet another pathetic performance by David Cameron in Parliament today, it struck me that the same old values of Margaret Thatcher have not left the Tory Party. As Gordon Brown pointed out, the Tories are more interseted in supporting strike breakers and creating division amongst workers, than actually solving this dispute. Links to this post. Four in a row.

British Modern Socialist: New Labour's 1997 General Election Manifesto, you decide.

http://britishmodernsocialist.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-labours-1997-general-election.html

A commentary on politics for all those socialist thinking people out there. Wednesday, 10 February 2010. New Labour's 1997 General Election Manifesto, you decide. With a General Election fast approaching, and with the Electorate having such short memories, I thought it appropriate to post the 1997 election manifesto so you can all make up your mind. New Labour because Britain deserves better. Britain will be better with new Labour. Our case is simple: that Britain can and must be better'. I want a Britai...

Another Football Blog: March 2012

http://anotherfootbsllblog.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, 31 March 2012. Get well soon Stiliyan Petrov. Football has had its fair share of traumas recently, but it is good to see, amid all of the bitterness and passion, that the football community is a true brotherhood and is united when a player falls ill. Aston Villa have announced that Stiliyan Petrov has been diagnosed with acute leukaemia. I join in with the whole football community in wishing him the best of luck and prayers and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. Thursday, 29 March 2012.

Another Football Blog: July 2012

http://anotherfootbsllblog.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, 1 July 2012. The way forward for England. Every two years after yet another failure, we examine what went right and wrong and what we need to do next. The trouble is nothing ever changes. I think Hodgson did a good job at making the national team more solid and hard to break down, but had Italy been able to finish their chances, then it could have been quite embarassing for England. It may be up to the bigger clubs to dothis at academy level, but as long as the bigger cluns bring in youngsters fr...

Commentary on all things cricket: December 2009

http://thebatsmensholdingthebowlerswilley.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Commentary on all things cricket. Sunday, 20 December 2009. Good Result, poor preformance. So like Cardiff we escape defeat again. This is a position we should have never been in. Andrew Strauss made a mistake from the start by putting South Africa in, although he may have misread the pitch or not put enough research into the conditions. The only plaudits for this game belong to Swann and Trott who both equipped themselves well. There is a lot to work on for Durban. Links to this post. Diaries of a Dieter.

Commentary on all things cricket. Friday, 30 March 2012. Four in a row. Well now there can be no denying, England cannot play ordinary spin bowling. There is one test remaining on this short tour and certainly hope Strauss, Cook and co. will show they do have the technique to score runs on these wickets.I. Links to this post. Saturday, 3 March 2012. More questions than answers for England. The bowling line up seems to be capable of bowling out sides on any pitch providing the ball is pout in the right ar...

Commentary on all things cricket: More questions than answers for England

http://thebatsmensholdingthebowlerswilley.blogspot.com/2012/03/more-questions-than-answers-for-england.html

Commentary on all things cricket. Saturday, 3 March 2012. More questions than answers for England. It is only three weeks until the first test against Sri Lanka and for England there are more questions than answers following the dismal test series against Pakistan. England have a very good group of players at their disposal and some very good young players knocking on the door, however the big question mark over England has always been their ability to win on Asian pitches. It is the batting I am concern...

Diaries of a Dieter: July 2010

http://dietingalways.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Diaries of a Dieter. Sunday, 18 July 2010. So for today I am hoping to not have anything substantail to eat until 6pm. I may have a piece of fruit during the day and maybe a cup of soup to keep me going. I would like to get out to ride my bike but I have had quite a bad cold over the last few days, so I will have to hold that for a few days longer. So I hope I can get my weight down a little from today when I do my daily weighing ritual tomorrow. See you then. Posted by Terry Bailey. My dietary regime is...

Another Tottenham Blog!: December 2013

I never feel more at home than at the Lane supporting the famous Lillywhites. COYS! View my complete profile. Friday, 6 December 2013. AVB's Tactics will not help Tottenham score goals, but I think I know what will. I am a typical armchair critic. I think I know the answers, but rarely do. Having said that I will throw my hat into the ring and give my opinion on AVB' current tactics. Problem 2 - Slow Build Up Play. Problem 3 - Inverted Wingers. If Spurs encourage opposition teams onto them, there will be...

Diaries of a Dieter: What to do when you don't have any scales?

http://dietingalways.blogspot.com/2012/03/what-to-do-when-you-dont-have-any.html

Diaries of a Dieter. Wednesday, 14 March 2012. What to do when you don't have any scales? Exercise is the best way to keep losing weight in my experience. I do swim most days and last week I climbed the 3,003 steps of Linabo Peak. It was torture on my body but I am sure I managed to burn up many calories. So despite my weakness for beer and chips, I still have managed to keep my weight down while I am here. But I think more by luck but I will keep trying. Posted by Terry Bailey.
