I've decided that I can't wait any longer to start on my new project (Billing Boats NORDKAP), so I'm gonna put this model on the mantlepiece in the lounge and come back to it another day. Saturday, 5 November 2011. READY FOR SATIN CLEAR COTE. Not progressed much - but I'm getting closer to being ready to apply a satin coat to the boat to give it a bit of lustre. To be honest, I just want to put this boat to one side and start on the Nordkap, learning from all the mistakes I've made on this. I will, however, do my best to ignore that urge. Sunday, 6 November 2011. Today was a beautiful sunny day so I decided to apply some Humbrol Satin Clear Cote to the boat. I thinned it with Enamel Thinners and applied it with my Aztec AirBrush. You can't really tell from this photo, but it went on really well and looks fine. I also spent some time making up various bits and bats like winches, etc. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, 8 October 2011. TO PAINT OR NOT TO PAINT. That is the question! I change my mind constantly on this subject. On the one hand, I could keep it all unpainted and use the kit as a "first exercise" in boat-building, or I could paint it and have it end up looking like a toy from the £-SHOP! So now it is time to work on the inside of the project and this post will deal with the main wet area which is located in my end between the Kitchen/dining/sitting area and my bedroom. The first job that needs doing is getting the floor tiled and we contract local tiler Alan Bourne.
