http://mindfulfisherman.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
The musings of a Red Deer dad. Sunday, 23 November 2014. As you may know I am now serving the city of Red Deer as a member of the Environmental Advisory Committee. I attended my first meeting last week and one of the things we talked about was the successes of Red Deer's composting pilot project. Held over the last few years. It is really exciting to be able to work with so many great minds on this committee! I used to wonder what was the BIG DEAL about composting. The methane produced from anaerobic dec...

The musings of a Red Deer dad. Sunday, 7 June 2015. There are two topics in this post that I will be sharing. This last weekend Krystal. And I were busy hosting an obstacle course. For the Central Alberta Children's Festival. We have done something like this 3 times over the last 4 years because it is really a lot of FUN! We have kids of our own and our philosophy is that kids need to be able to run, jump, crawl and explore! So that is why we love designing this obstacle course for the festival! I unders...

The musings of a Red Deer dad. Sunday, 11 January 2015. Reflection Upon The Election. Its been over an entire year since the municipal election in Red Deer. And I have been doing some reflecting about it all. I have been closely following the Capital and Operating budget talks and I believe the city is moving in a positive direction. When Ken Johnston. Describes the work being done in the Riverlands as "building a World Class Development" which "we will soon take great pride in", or when Diane Wyntjes.

The Mindful Fisherman: Red Deer 100,000!
http://mindfulfisherman.blogspot.com/2015/06/red-deer-100000.html
The musings of a Red Deer dad. Sunday, 28 June 2015. Red Deer 100,000! The population of Red Deer is now over 100,000. And it has been projected that the population of Red Deer will double in the next. 18 years or so. What do you think about that? Do you think Red Deer is getting too crowded and sprawled out? I have lived in Red Deer since the population was closer to 60,000 and I have seen a lot change. We now have rush hour traffic jams and smog on calm days. I met some of the planners who are designin...

http://www.wieler4rd.ca/2016/10/is-downtown-red-deer-safe.html
Passionate about Red Deer? Curious about the issues? Saturday, October 1, 2016. Is Downtown Red Deer Safe? Hey everyone, d. O you feel safe in downtown Red Deer? The other evening I was having a very serious conversation with my wife about her plan to jog from our house to the downtown Rec Centre. She wanted to leave at 7am and head down the Ross St Hill. This time of year the sun comes up around 7:30am. So the plan was for her to make most of the journey in the dark. Would you be able to see? Absolutely...

Wieler4RD: November 2015

Passionate about Red Deer? Curious about the issues? Wednesday, November 18, 2015. There Is Refuge In Red Deer. When I first heard about the attacks in France I was fearful and enraged. My first reaction was that Canada should close its borders and not allow any Syrian refugees in because some of them may be ISIS terrorists. But then I was reminded of the Sermon on the Mount and I kept thinking about the noble wisdom of those verses. These wise words softened my heart but I didn't change my mind until.

Passionate about Red Deer? Curious about the issues? Tuesday, November 29, 2016. What is the biggest lake in Red Deer? You guessed it, Hazlett Lake! It’s right there, just north of HWY 11A. Plans to develop this area. Are in the works as we speak. It has been projected. That over the next 20 years or so this area will become home to about 20,000 new Red Deerians. As another side note if Camrose can do it, Red Deer can do it as well, when we build a new aquatic centre it should have solar panels on its ro...
