Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ: Pekapeka Wetlands, Hawkes Bay

Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ. IDEAS PHOTOS. INSPIRATION. RAMBLINGS. Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Pekapeka Wetlands, Hawkes Bay. One of the info signs - keeping to the theme of timber and steel. I LOVE these picnic tables. No problem with these being blown over in the wind. Hebe are the main nurse crop, being fast growing - they provide shade and shelter for the slower growing,. But longer term trees, which are just starting to push through the hebes. Really sturdy and nicely curved board walks.

George has plans for glamping sites, water wheels, electricity generation, alfresco baths, enormous flying fox etc, but in the meantime, it is just a fabulous spot to spend our energy and leisure time. Construction of the mud brick pizza oven (clay off the farm). Sam and Phoebe staining the pergola posts. Paddock so we could plant around it. ABOVE: New planting,...

Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ: Let there be light
http://rachelcallaghanlandscapearchitect.blogspot.com/2015/07/let-there-be-light.html
Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ. IDEAS PHOTOS. INSPIRATION. RAMBLINGS. Monday, July 20, 2015. Let there be light. So excited to get rid of this damn tree - and the pleasure I will get from burning the firewood will be immense. I added the pink cross in desperation, and was preparing to pay a contractor to come. And take it down. The thought of me paying someone to do this is what finally galvanised. Probably a year's worth of firewood here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Have a great day.

Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ. IDEAS PHOTOS. INSPIRATION. RAMBLINGS. Monday, July 20, 2015. Orange and Purple Garden Mid-winter. Part of what I love about this garden, is the extreme contrast between the vibrant, bold flower colours of autumn, then this quiet period of green. Small bulbs will start flowering soon - daffodils, tulips and crocus. This is it in full bloom, below! Links to this post. Let there be light. Probably a year's worth of firewood here. Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ: From Plans to Planting
http://rachelcallaghanlandscapearchitect.blogspot.com/p/from-plans-to-planting.html
Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ. IDEAS PHOTOS. INSPIRATION. RAMBLINGS. From Plans to Planting. We are increasingly being asked to complete the planting jobs that I have drawn plans for. We love doing this! Lately I have been planning and ordering plants, and laying them out for the client to plant themselves when they have time. This works beautifully, as plant placement can make or break a design. This is the next best thing to having the 'experts' come in and plant for you! This planting at No...

Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ: My Own Garden(s)
http://rachelcallaghanlandscapearchitect.blogspot.com/p/my-own-gardens.html
Rachel Callaghan Landscape Architect, NZ. IDEAS PHOTOS. INSPIRATION. RAMBLINGS. This is most definitely NOT intended as a display garden, rather, an inspirational and gorgeous place for me to work in. Envious friends call this my sanctuary - and it jolly near is! Ideally I would like to have sculptures etc in the garden, but at the moment I am making do with plants. Of course the plants I use here are many of my favourites. Always starting with the structural plants - Shrubs and trees:. Late summer Feb '...
