http://www.thisprovinciallife.com/2015/03/23/strawberry-cheesecake-tart-spring-break
Food and far off places. Strawberry Cheesecake Tart (& Spring Break! 3 / 23 / 15. 3 / 25 / 15. It might be snowing in Chicago, but this is the only spring break I get, and I intend to eat and drink (and dance) accordingly. This tart is so good. Actually, I should probably say it. So good, because I may or may not have made it this morning, and we may or may not have already finished it. It’s got berries, right? 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought). 1 tablespoon butter, melted. 4 oz cream cheese. Your email...

the adventures [and misadventures] of Amy: Knitting Gone Bad
http://amesbunny03.blogspot.com/2010/02/knitting-gone-bad.html
The adventures [and misadventures] of Amy. Feb 4, 2010. My coworker Andi and I started our first (out of four) knitting classes today. We learned the basics: how to cast on, how to knit rows, how to purl, and how to bind off. I was about to take a picture of my ugly practice piece I made in class, when I realized it looked way too much like a penis. I'll keep this blog PG today and not post the picture. Confessions of a Young Adult Author. Friday, June 19, 2015. How many of you are familiar with the Dove Choose Beautiful Campaign? This YouTube video was recently brought to my attention, and if you haven't seen it, you need to. As women, we sometimes devalue our beauty. As women, we tend to think of ourselves as "average" or "mediocre" or nothing "special." But the truth is, we are ALL special. We ALL have something to offer. We are all beautiful. And why is that? Full lips, flawless skin, size 2 body?

Confessions of a Young Adult Author. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Choose Your Characters Wisely. Writers spend hours upon hours choosing their characters, plotting scenes, and crafting the perfect story. And as a writer, I respect the art and craft of writing. However, we need to make sure that the message we're sending to our young readers is a positive one. How many of you are familiar with the original version of The Three Little Pigs? Or even the Disney version? For example, there's this one:. I'm s...

Kristin Smith: The House That I Built
http://swordsandstilettos.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-house-that-i-built.html
Confessions of a Young Adult Author. Friday, July 17, 2015. The House That I Built. There's a house being built across the street from us. So far, all they've done is clear the wooded land so there's a nice flat spot to build the house. The other day, I was thinking about how this cleared land is like our writing. We all start out with cleared land, or a blank sheet of paper, rather. But line by line, brick by brick, we build our "house.". What kind of house have you built? July 17, 2015 at 7:35 PM.

The Social Butterfly at Storymakers. May 20, 2015. May 20, 2015. You be the Unicorn, I’ll be the Butterfly. Recapping Storymakers is like trying to nail jello to a wall. Expressing how I feel? Even harder. Remembering what I learned? Tricky. Making friends/reuniting with friends/meeting online personalities for the first time? Likewise, I can’t believe I was such an emotional wreck over this–everyone’s so nice. Did I smell like B.O. the whole time? Why did I lose sleep over pitching my story to an agent?
