Cricket Club – Corpus Christi JCR

Q: How many Corpus sports teams can claim to have been featured in a book that was read out on BBC Radio 4? The answer is, of course, just the one. The book is ‘Penguins Stopped Play’ by Harry Thompson. And we featured in what was, sadly, Thompson’s last game of cricket before his death. The highlight of the season is the ‘Clock Match’. An all day timed game against a team of Old Corpuscles. The day is usually great fun and is followed by curry and socialising. 2016 Corpus Christi JCR.

Tortoise Fair – Corpus Christi JCR
http://www.corpusjcr.org/jcr-life/tortoise-fair
Amidst a July monsoon, hundreds gathered in the Corpus Christi garden to witness one of Oxford’s most esteemed and esoteric spectacles- the not-quite-legendary charity Tortoise Race. In the centre of a large circle of iceberg lettuce stood, poised for action, stood eight tortoises (and one human tortoise) and their keepers. Months of training had built up to this single moment and the atmosphere was almost as heavy as the black clouds hanging overhead. Is a charity dedicated to promoting the rule of law ...
