In GLEON, analytical models often are innovated to suit a particular science question and the available data. These models and their use are growing in their sophistication and demands on computer resources. For example, determining uncertainty estimates in daily lake metabolism parameters can be accomplished through a bootstrapping technique that refits the model 1,000x per analysis day ( Science Applications – Lake Metabolism Across the GLEON Network.

There are currently many hydrodynamic models statically coupled to specific water quality models. There are also a number of uncoupled water quality or process specific models that ecologists would like to integrate with hydrodynamics, given a reasonably easy model interface. Lake Simulator - CDI

The GLEON Simulator Web site allows users to submit numerical simulations of lakes to the CDI Condor pool. The user may submit a single simulation or hundreds or even thousands of simulations. Simulator will package each simulation separately, submit to the GLEON Condor pool, then receive and assemble the results for analysis. To date, hundreds of lake simulations have been run using this resource.
