Edible User Interfaces paper. Presented at CHI 2005. In Portland, Oregon. Video of CHI 2005 Presentation, with slides. Video of BeanCounter in action. At CHI 2005, I gave a talk in which I proposed the new paradigm of Edible User Interfaces (EUI) to address this inadequacy. I introduced two EUI systems, BeanCounter and TasteScreen, and described applications of each system. I'd also like to acknowledge Ben Resner for first coining the term "Edible User Interface" in his Master's Thesis.

I never paused to appreciate the flexibility of sandwiches until I saw the label on this one. The great thing about sandwiches is you can enjoy a variety of tastes with no fuss. Ham, lettuce, eggs, tomatoes, choose whatever you like depending on how you feel. Never This was one. In confidence, taste, and freshness.
