Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. Dreaming in color (and light wood). February 17, 2013. I do I feel badly for the people who will have to keep this place neat, it’s going to be incredibly obvious when even and inch of fabric is skewed or a drawer doesn’t quite close! Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. Here fishy fishy…. September 11, 2013. If you need words to describe why this is awesome you’re doing it wrong. The lack of filtration system does make for long-term problems in fish health, but still. I had a Grow a Frog for years in a plastic tank and he lived to 9. It’s a kickstarter project and it’s pretty awesome. Click below for more info. By Greg Towndrow, as submitted to Designboom. All images Greg Towndrow. Tabula rasa for fish design. Show the wor...

Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. April 18, 2015. My love of transformer furniture is well documented on this blog, but “Land Peel” by Shin Yamashita. It’s also seating for two people with side tables and a lamp. Minimalism at it’s best. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to email (Opens in new window). Human Elemants | Chic + Geek

Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. August 13, 2013. There are two shopping websites that I think show these contrasting trends quite well. Fab. Useful but cooler than your mom’s. Nest Utensils Multi by Joseph Joseph, as seen on Fab.com. Shark Pencil case that bites you? Two please. Modern Dots Shark by Minnebites / Pencil Case on Etsy. The obviousness of this trend was pointed out to me on a trip to Sturbridge Village. Why would anyone want what I make? Well, I’ll work on it. Notify me of ne...

Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. March 9, 2014. But the things I wanted to change far outstripped my ability. So I become frustrated and avoidant, and wrote even less. And I am a champion avoider. So like many other disappointed people, I learned coding is not like in the movies. Coding in the movies vs real life. Here’s to trying only to fail, and hoping that I don’t need to try 2000 different ways to make a blog post. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Here fishy fishy…. Follow Blo...

Appreciating form, function, and pretty things. May 1, 2014. I did my Senior Thesis in architecture in part on the new technology that is Cross Laminated Timber. Someday I’ll write a much better description with all my research, but here is the cliff notes version:. Seriously, the hardest thing about presenting CLT in crits was explaining all this without taking FOREVER to present. It was approved in December 2012 by the International Code Council (ICC), and the new code with be publish late this year.
