Chronic illness, crafting and cake. The Adeline Top and Sewing Machine Drama. This is another in a series. I’ve been sewing. The fabric is a gorgeous rayon from the Spotlight $2/m clearance table. I usually don’t wear much black, but the gem-like colours in the pattern were too entrancing to resist. Worn with some hand-me-down (or up, considering how much shorter my auntie is than me) Gordon Smith pants and Mel moon bow loafers. Continue reading “The Adeline Top and Sewing Machine Drama”. Chronic illness, crafting and cake. OK, so I know I promised you more Christmas presents. But I haven’t managed to get adequate photos of them yet. So instead, I wore a wool hat and scarf in 35C degree heat to take photos of this project. It’s a hard-knock life, guys. Scarf is Trellis Scarf by Purl Bee. Knitted in white Ton of Wool cormo which is unfortunately discontinued. Lipstick is Kate Moss for Rimmel #10, for any other diehard lippie fans. This hat is my Regina the Fourth. This is the Cloche Divine.

Join the Metric Measurement Cult | Sewing Japanese

https://sewingjapanese.wordpress.com/2015/07/24/join-the-metric-measurement-cult

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. Join the Metric Measurement Cult. July 24, 2015. July 26, 2015. Japan, like most of the world, uses the metric system. So for sewing patterns, you get seam allowances of 1 cm instead of 3/8 inch. That’s nice. Can do. It’s part of the whole cult experience. I called it an inch and got on with my life. Remember, the Doomsday Clock is ticking ticking ticking. Japanese sewing pattern books. Then Straight-cut Tiered Skirt Is for You!

Rotary Cutting Joy | Sewing Japanese

https://sewingjapanese.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/rotary-cutting-joy

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. July 26, 2015. I am so glad I busted out the quilting rotary cutter and rulers for my Straight-cut Tiered Skirt. I am getting the “straight-cut” happy vibe from “Happy Homemade Sew Chic” (or maybe that’s just the Kool-Aid talking)…. Anyway, straight cut pattern pieces may leave you with boxy garments, but there’s no arguing with efficiency. I cut this skirt out in less than an hour. Happy Homemade Sew Chic. For indulging my fads.

Love Math? Then Straight-cut Tiered Skirt Is for You! | Sewing Japanese

https://sewingjapanese.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/love-math-then-straight-cut-tiered-skirt-is-for-you

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. Then Straight-cut Tiered Skirt Is for You! July 20, 2015. The Straight-cut Tiered Skirt pattern in Happy Homemade Sew Chic is not really a pattern at all. It’s more like a set of blueprints to build a skirt:. There are NO pattern pieces. Basically, you measure out and cut a bunch of rectangles according to specific mathematical measurements, sew them together, just so and…. voila! Tier B is 8 or 8.25 inches (20 or 21 cm). Enter ...

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. Just Ain’t Fitting. August 11, 2015. August 11, 2015. To make the Straight-cut Tiered Skirt from Happy Homemade Sew Chic all floaty and cute, you not only cut and sew three tiers of skirts. You also. The tiers to varying degrees as you assemble the skirt. Sounds easy, eh? That’s what we call putting 10 pounds of shit into a 5-pound bag. So, it’s off to the store for some heavy-duty thread to make those gathers. Dammit. I am impr...

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. Revenge of the Fugly Pants. June 2, 2016. I think my misbegotten pants must have heard I was trashing them on Thursday blog, because they got their revenge. While I was zipping up the pants after a bathroom break, the zipper made a break for it:. Did I mention I was at work? I held up the pants, saying a thank you for the long blouse I was wearing, walked to my desk and fished out a safety pin. The Last of Me-Made May. A lot of ...

Exploring the Japanese Hippie Doomsday Cult look with Japanese sewing books. Damn You, Skirt! August 15, 2015. August 16, 2015. I’m beginning to think the Straight-cut Tiered Skirt. Is cursed. Actually, I know it is. I am just trying at this point to ward off superstition. Can’t belong to. Cults at the same time. I spent an eternity picking out all the gathering threads. Then I cut down the big bottom tier to the size of the underskirt and stated to sew. I felt so happy, finally moving forward! You are c...

Making Amends – When Mental and Chronic Illness Collide

https://warriorprincesscait.com/2017/01/02/making-amends

When Mental and Chronic Illness Collide. A Spoonie's Journey. What is ‘Living Without Limits? Last night, someone from my past contacted me to make amends. It was a very random message, as he even admitted it was completely out of left field. He claimed to have been mean to me, but that must have been a rough part of my life that I blocked out. But this message reminded me–It’s never too late to make amends. I’m lucky to have a good core group of friends, my ride or dies, that have been with me thr...

CHRONICALLY SICK, BUT STILL THINKING I THINK

Monday, January 18, 2016. A bit of my health history, and how I contextualize my health situation:. I wasn't clairvoyant, but as the years dragged on I had an inkling that something was really wrong. It was like waiting for the other shoe to drop. I had no idea what form or shape it would take, but a sense of dread and fear began to permeate my youth. The symptoms seemed to be creeping on me, gradually becoming stronger, more noticeable to me. The pain in the back of my head and lymph nodes behind my ear...
