Development hell (OLJ 5). 6 June 2016 2 Comments. Think of development hell. As an infinite spin cycle. You are going to the Best Party Ever as soon as your laundry is done. Your amazingly cool shirt is too damp to wear but if you can just wait another 15 minutes… Oh good, it’s dry! This happened for about eight years with OTHERLIFE. My experience of indie development hell is:. Hell is other people’s checkbooks. Hell is other people’s schedules. The people who tell you these things are some of the same p...

A terrible beginning, and an end: Weird Tales - Dark Suburbia

Clipped lawns, key parties, and death! A terrible beginning, and an end: Weird Tales. Aug 20th, 2012 at 12:20 PM. I’d write up a post, but N.K. Jemisin has written something so eloquent and heartbreaking, I think it deserves as many eyes as possible. Certainly it speaks exactly for how I feel. This is how you destroy something beautiful. Originally published at Livia Llewellyn. Take a trip to the city. I owe you marine autumn. With dankness at its roots. And fog like a grape. And the silent space.

Oh, Readercon: NO. - Dark Suburbia
http://livia-llewellyn.livejournal.com/149695.html
Clipped lawns, key parties, and death! Oh, Readercon: NO. Jul 27th, 2012 at 3:12 PM. I never did get around to posting a report of my own, but to be honest, there wasn’t much too it. Also, I’ve been battling some horrific post-con depression, which I’m not going to go into except to say that it’s difficult to blog when I’m going through that kind of shit. So, anyway. I’d much rather you pay attention to the following: Genevieve Valentine’s Readercon experience. Two weeks later…. Yeah, really, no.

BORIS LAYUPAN'S LUCKY ALBATROSS FICTION & FILM BLOG: May 2008
http://writerboris.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
BORIS LAYUPAN'S LUCKY ALBATROSS FICTION and FILM BLOG. Monday, May 05, 2008. Review: “Iron Man”. One cool comic book superhero epic movie. I didn’t (and still don’t) spend much time reading comics as a kid, but I watched all the cartoons- including the bad ones. Even though Iron Man doesn’t have the same iconic recognition as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, the X-Men, etc., I knew who he was. Sleek red and yellow and looking like a 1952 Buick Roadmaster. As he pushes ahead with his quest f...

Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Female Protagonists and the Lack Thereof (or Not). So I was pointed to this article on the lack of female protaginists. More specifically in childrens and YA lit) by NeuronDoc. I was name-checked in the discussion by Shawn, because I read and recommend a lot of books with female protagonists (especially YA. However, I’ve been reading a not insignificant amount of historical romance, so to be fair, I did not count romance books in this tally. (5). But you excluded romance!

Love Interruption, Indeed - Dark Suburbia
http://livia-llewellyn.livejournal.com/148683.html
Clipped lawns, key parties, and death! Love Interruption, Indeed. May 11th, 2012 at 2:21 PM. I very, very rarely get reviews of my stories – maybe five or six short mentions on Livejournal over the past eight years, and only one review from a pro-publication (for Locus – Lois Tilton didn’t hate “Her Deepness”). Most of the time, I get hilarious things like this. Of what has so far been my most ignored and/or misunderstood story, “and Love shall have no Dominion”. In a review of. Over on Worlds In Ink.
