Ashish's Programming Journal: Autonomous RC Car with Laser Based Obstacle Detector
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/02/autonomous-rc-car-with-laser-based.html
Friday, February 16, 2007. Autonomous RC Car with Laser Based Obstacle Detector. Autonomous RC car with laser based obstacle detector. This is my first project with the computer controlled RC car. I made. Instead of purchasing ultrasonic obstacle detectors, I used my laser based obstacle detector. Maybe you could work something out with mirrors so it can detect obstacles not only in front of it, but to the left, right, and back of it. Hi Ashish - Looks very cool! Or use it to follow a wall. Really iam so...

Ashish's Programming Journal: Autonomous RC Car II (with wireless camera!)
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/03/autonomous-rc-car-ii-with-wireless.html
Wednesday, March 21, 2007. Autonomous RC Car II (with wireless camera! I've finally got a nice and cheap wireless camera! It cost me around Rs. 1200 (USD $24). I quickly fixed this camera to my autonomous RC car. Well, it was nice to hear from you! I would like to suggest a few things to you wihch i have been trying but, have not been able to do. Try out some joystick programming manuals available on the net.and try to control your RC car by that. I have been working on this.(but in VB). If you are inter...

Ashish's Programming Journal: Homemade USB interface board using a PIC
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2010/02/homemade-usb-interface-board-using-pic.html
Friday, February 12, 2010. Homemade USB interface board using a PIC. Here's what I've been working on for the last couple of weeks:. You can make your C#, VB, C programs communicate with the chip using the open-source MCHPFSUSB Framework. From Microchip, or the Window's HID drivers. The framework comes with lots of samples to get you started. No project is compete until you record a video! Http:/ www.zeitnitz.de/Christian/scope en. Probably one of your best projects . other than the laser mouse. We are h...

Ashish's Programming Journal: Pong Playing Computer playing against another computer using a webcam as an eye!
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/06/pong-playing-computer-playing-against.html
Monday, June 11, 2007. Pong Playing Computer playing against another computer using a webcam as an eye! Download video (5.54 MB). Several years ago, when I was a stupid little schoolboy, I created a really fun and addictive game called Ping Pong. It was based on the classic arcade game, PONG. And had some cool features like gradual speed increase, two game modes, and some neat sound effects. I had almost forgotten about that game until I saw this auto wood-chopper project. 8211; a project based on a Codi...

http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/08/whistle-or-scream-to-control-your.html
Sunday, August 26, 2007. Whistle (or scream) to control your computer! It has been a long time since I wrote my last blog post. Well, I had been busy with a lot of things – like college, harmonica playing, meeting people, (and not to mention a whole host of fun, yet unproductive things I had been doing). Oh, and I was also busy reading, discussing and thinking. Over the last Harry Potter book by J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Is stunningly beautiful. I loved it. :). Now, I’m th...

Ashish's Programming Journal: Adding a small HD44780 LCD display to my PC
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2010/01/adding-small-hd44780-lcd-display_29.html
Thursday, January 28, 2010. Adding a small HD44780 LCD display to my PC. I've received an e-mail from TK Boyd. He's the man who inspired me to connect all sorts of things to my computer! This LCD is based on the popular Hitachi HD44780 controller. You can find lots of information about how to communicate with this LCD on the Internet. I connected it to my computer's parallel port and fixed it to my computer's case:. Here is the pinout for the LCD:. DB0-DB7 is the data bus. So, this is how a typical comma...

Saturday, January 27, 2007. Fun with LEDs and pattern recognition. I find this really interesting. Check out the videos above. :). I have to go to work now. That's lame because I can't wait to finish reading all your posts. They will help me tremendously with my projects for school. Thank you and thanks to Scott Hanselman for pointing me in your direction. Portland, Maine, USA. I'm glad my blog is helping you in your projects. It means a lot to me. Keep visiting. :). Ashish's Programming Journal: Laser Tracking with webcam for Human-Computer Interaction
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2008/03/laser-tracking-with-webcam-for-human.html
Sunday, March 16, 2008. Laser Tracking with webcam for Human-Computer Interaction. This post should have been written two months ago, in January, but with all sorts of things keeping me busy, I just couldn't get enough time to shoot videos and write about the project. Anyway, now that I do have time (and a video), here's what the whole thing's about: While writing an email to Scott Hanselman. The idea is pretty much similar to Johnny Lee's Wii Whiteboard. Source code and details coming soon! I was just w...

Ashish's Programming Journal: Self Navigating Microbric Viper Robot
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/04/self-navigating-microbric-viper-robot_25.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Self Navigating Microbric Viper Robot. After several days of hard work, I've managed to turn my Microbric Viper robot. Into an intelligent mobile robot, which moves around my house and avoids obstacles along its way! This time, I've mounted a laser based obstacle detector. On top of a servo. So, now the robot is able to scan its surroundings before making a move. This project is still based on the principles working behind my autonomous RC car. The Iguanaworks IR transmitter.

Ashish's Programming Journal: Parallel port relay for playing with real world gadgets!
http://ashishrd.blogspot.com/2007/01/parallel-port-relay-for-playing-with.html
Sunday, January 21, 2007. Parallel port relay for playing with real world gadgets! I've finally connected a relay to my parallel port! I got the circuit design from here. I can use the relay to control almost anything in my house. I have combined it with my gesture recognizer. To allow me to control things with a laser pointer! Its fun. Using this with motion detection. I guess I could've connected upto eight relays, but I wanted to keep it simple. Besides, I might end up using a bluetooth relay board.
