Dirt Stained Hands: Notes from a Northeast Gardener: June 2010

http://colleenplimpton.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Another name for this pretty, delicate-appearing green monster is Garden Enemy #1. It's pilea, an enthusiastic weed which grows to some 12-18" if permitted, and which likes moist, shady conditions. Precisely what my back yard gardens offer. I'm not sure when it first arrived, probably 3 or 4 years ago, but I recall the Cooperative Extension office identified it for me. I keep pulling and pulling, but alas.it's found a home. Thursday, June 10, 2010. This charming plant is in bloom ...

Dirt Stained Hands: Notes from a Northeast Gardener: What's New in Gardening?

http://colleenplimpton.blogspot.com/2011/03/whats-new-in-gardening.html

Saturday, March 5, 2011. What's New in Gardening? The 2011 Connecticut Flower Show is over, and what did I learn? That more gardeners each year are interested in growing organically, the way our grandparents did. That water gardening, be it pond, waterfall, stream, etc. is still HUGE. That hellebore seems to be the plant of choice for 2011. That there's real concern about invasive species, such as Japanese knotweed, bittersweet and garlic mustard. April 23, 2013 at 4:22 PM. Mentors in the Garden of Life.

Friday, April 25, 2014. My mom passed away on April 18 at 6:34. I don't know that there's anything else to say. Saturday, March 15, 2014. Hung out with my mom tonight. All I ever want to do is make her smile, and so tonight I tried to do that by satisfying her sweet tooth. I told her to make a face while I took the picture. Love it. I've been up since four am and now it's midnight. Sleep time for me. Sunday, March 2, 2014. I think this process is making my whole family relearn who we are and what matters.

I will post here just once more after I am stateside. Then it will be time to move forward and to start thinking about seminary. So I'm off. To Ostrava to Vienna to Stockholm to Newark to HOME!
