Cookbooks & Experiments: March 2015

http://cookbooksandexperiments.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 20, 2015. Paneer curry - the way I make it. Paneer is almost the king of dishes in a vegetarian cuisine. With it chewy mouthfeel, lovely texture and an ability to take on various flavours.maybe it deserves to be just that. Be it a festival, a party or a wedding, paneer dishes are served everywhere in India. The best part is that it can be used without any cooking in salads too! Here is a regular paneer dish that I usually make when I feel like making something nice for dinner. This is a dis...

Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Coconut Cookies (eggless) / Nariyal ke biscuit. Sometimes you want nothing chocolate-y, sometimes you just want wholesome goodness, sometimes you need to have coconut cookies. So I baked a batch of whole wheat coconut cookies, which turned out pretty neat. The recipe is very simple and can be found at more places than one.I really cant remember where I jotted it from. Whole Wheat flour- 1 cup. Softened butter - 100gm (1/2cup). Grated coconut- 1 cup 1Tbsp for topping. This is an eas...

Cookbooks & Experiments: Baby food- plantain

http://cookbooksandexperiments.blogspot.com/2013/06/baby-food-plantain.html

Friday, June 7, 2013. Plantain is of banana family. I was introduced to this food by my husband. Its normally needs to be cooked before eating. As the plantain ripens, it becomes sweeter and its color changes from green to yellow to black, just like bananas. Mostly we ate plantain which were salted and fried (no wonder they taste good! Ripe plantains can also be fried and eaten with black eyed beans cooked in palm oil; a popular dish in Nigeria. Plantain- 1, peeled and cut into a few pieces. Take out the ...

http://cookbooksandexperiments.blogspot.com/2015/05/lauki-ke-kofte-bottle-gourd-dumplings.html

Saturday, May 9, 2015. Lauki Ke kofte- Bottle gourd dumplings in tomato-curd gravy. Plant a radish, get a radish,. Never any doubt, thats why I love vegetables,. You know what they are about! Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. Vegetables are the best thing to eat.everyone knows that. But sometimes you need to add a little twist to them for creating new.psst.also you need to hide it for little ones to eat. That's when you take a homely bottle gourd and elevate it to the princely kofta. Heat oil in a wok/Kadhai.

This is perhaps the reason why some people like a dish cooked in all perfections, while others might not. The combination of eggplants and shrimp (. I have used the smallest shrimp available here. Honest views on life. and we don't want to be more specific than that :). Books I have loved. What I taught students of class 5 was exactly what IIM professors tried to teach me. February 27, 2012 13 Comments. But who really learns? Yesterday, I was discussing a math problem with my nephew who is in class 4 in a school in Ahmedabad. He is about 9 years old. I noted in him the same tendencies which I noted in a class of mine at Digantar, an NGO, where I taught kids for a few months. Nephew: Because mam to...

I want your cheeks to glow like these apples my mother told me when I was recuperating from a bout of typhoid as an eleven year old. Sunday, July 8, 2012. Today's recipe is from the book Bake! It's a yeast-dough that you can mix up quickly with basic ingredients. I messed up the first time (I added the yeast to the flour) and I still ended up with delicious dough. I made it correctly the second time and it was just as good. This makes a lot of dough! The book says it's enough for 4 twelve inch round pizzas. I made two 12*18 rectangle pizzas. 5 c bread flour (I used King Arthur White Wheat flour). 2 t active dry yeast. 2 C warm water.

Cook Books and Ceilithe. Kitchen parties and other fun. A Super Easy Summer Tart. March 27, 2012. It ended up pretty good … we had a slice for dinner, and then at an impromptu brunch the next morning, I served the leftovers to several aunts and an uncle, who thought it was great. 1 puff pastry, thawed. 1/2 cup of Mascarpone cheese. 3 tablespoons of raspberry jam (or your choice of flavor). Sliced fruit – your choice, I used 3 kiwi, 1/2 pint of blueberries, and a 1/2 pint of strawberries. March 20, 2012.

CookBooks – Only The Best Recipes

Banana Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Frosting. Before I get started, I’d like to suggest that you check out the original recipes from Joy the Baker. I will say that this recipe is somewhat more labor-intensive (and dish-heavy! Than I usually work with, but I also feel that the end result is more than worth it. Nobodywould guess that these were healthified. They seem too dense to be considered healthy! Now, they’re not totally healthy but they’re healthier than they could be! 2 tsp baking soda.
