Country Living in a Cariboo Valley. Join us at our new website found at http:/ www.countrylivinginacariboovalley.com/. Friday, November 30, 2012. Dreaming of a Home in Florida. Is Winter finally settling in? It seems so here in the Valley – we don’t have much snow yet, but what is here will probably be staying until Spring. Wood heat is wonderful for making you feel all toasty warm inside. Electric heat just doesn’t compare at all. Even a couple of months would be great. We are not sure if we are going t...

Do or do not. There is no try. January 16, 2011. Why I Hate Sundays. Posted by theambitioushousewife under Ramblings. I will admit: Sunday’s are my most stressful days. I don’t sleep well then night before (and haven’t for over ten years) and spend most of the day counting the hours until the day is done. Pretty pathetic for a day that is supposed to be the day of rest, right? The main reason I hate Sundays? And that is why I hate Sundays, and probably always will. January 6, 2011. Choice, you know?

Fabrics and Gardens: Monogrammed Pie
http://fabricgarden.blogspot.com/2010/12/monogrammed-pie.html
Just a couple of my favorite things of which you will read more about (hopefully) as I write in my newest venture .the blog! Caution: I am prone to wandering, so you may also find Mothering and my aspirations of home economy as well. Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Learned this from a friend. What a fun idea to bring this someone's house this Christmas! I cut shapes out of my crusts, fall leaves for pumpkin pie, stars, flowers, hearts. January 16, 2011 at 7:52 PM. Hoosier Homesteaders: February 2011
http://hoosierhomesteaders.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Notes on our journey to being more self-reliable. Sunday, February 27, 2011. Little Man has been keeping us plenty busy. Here he is dreaming about spring.at least his mom and dad are! To try to get in a bit of early "dirt" time, I separated my aloe pups from the mother plant and potted them. I also had to throw away the rosemary plant that didn't agree with growing in my kitchen. I'll try again with the rosemary, as it's a great herb for cooking. I'm crossing my fingers that I get some doelings. Selectin...

Notes on our journey to being more self-reliable. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Mr and Mrs. Hoosier Homesteader. Sunday, January 29, 2012. My big brick house mama goat is due on Tuesday. I have been checking on her throughout the day, and she seems happy and content. I am so ready for another round of bottle babies. I'll keep my ear out for any hints of impending labor via the barn/baby monitor. Come on babies! Mr and Mrs. Hoosier Homesteader. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. The barn is done! I heard excited whi...

Notes on our journey to being more self-reliable. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. My Kids- Caprine Variety. The goat babies are doing very well. We ended up with two bucklings. From Tease, and a buckling and doeling. I really wanted a doeling. From both, but at least we got one. In the video you'll see 5 kids. We actually bought an Alpine buckling to be sure we could breed the girls this year. We're hoping to get a Saanen. Tease with her bucklings. And our Grand Prize- Heidi. Always loved the look of Oberhasli.

Hoosier Homesteaders: June 2011
http://hoosierhomesteaders.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Notes on our journey to being more self-reliable. Sunday, June 26, 2011. This year, we added 3 raised garden beds to the homestead. We have a large garden as well, but decided to change things up a bit. The large garden now grows corn, beans, some of our onions, and our viney. Plants (cukes, zukes, melons, and winter squash). We hope to add more raised beds as time goes on. I think this fall, when we plant more cabbages for canning saur. From sticking to the plants to keep the worms at bay. We moved out ...

Country Living in a City Home
One of the things that country living means to me is making do, or self suffiency. It all ties in with frugal living, simple living, even preparedess, but it's at heart, a hands-on type of doing for oneself by choice. What brought this on is watching the changing seasons. We are slowly turning from winter to spring. Leftover winter projects need to be finished now. Before warm weather lures us outside. In my back yard, in my pantry still offering with good food from last year's garden, from my sewing bas...

Country Living in France
Country Living in France. Just my whitterings about life, work and knitting, while living in the French countryside. Friday, 24 September 2010. Dog (and cat) days of summer? Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Time for some R&R. What a summer it's been. Our B&B has been unbelievably busy. Now it's time to spend some quality time on the home, with family and with our doggies. Sad news that our Wally-cat (14) is no longer with us, having lost a 3 week battle against a lung infection. RIP old chap. January - dear M...
