The Churches: July 2012
http://the-churches.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 11, 2012. 65279;. The sun, the fun, the summer reading programs. So many from which to choose. The local public library is always a good one. Then there is our church, some on-line homeschooling resources, and a few local restaurants…pizza prizes anyone? Folks around town have been amazed at how many books my children can read in a few months. It’s a feat at which I marvel, but I’m not surprised. My children LOVE books! And Sandra Boynton (Blue Hat, Green Hat and Opposites). Then on...

The Churches: November 2011

Saturday, November 26, 2011. He draws them, reads about them, and pretends to ride the. M all over the house and yard. It probably doesn’t help that every time he goes to the farm store with his Daddy, Alan buys him a piece of horse equipment. Good thing Molly cat likes the currycomb. Zac has even asked Santa for horse tack. His Dad and I would give anything to be able to make the dream of his very own, real live horse come true. Posted by Melanie Church. Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Making Friends Through Homeschooling. One of the most asked questions I get when people find out we homeschool is “What do you do about socialization? 8221; It seems that the paradigm of socialization for children is that children can only socialize and make friends in a public or private school setting. As homeschooling parents, we've had to put some serious thought into what is socialization. 8221; “She hit me! 8221; He’s annoying me! Posted by Melanie Church. My web site list.

The Churches: The True Treasures of Christmas
http://the-churches.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-true-treasures-of-christmas.html
Monday, January 7, 2013. The True Treasures of Christmas. This fall has been a very trying time for our family in what could be appropriately called a season of death. My Dad died in an accident in his home at the end of August and my father-in-law passed away in mid October just weeks shy of his 100. Posted by Melanie Church. Monday, January 07, 2013. The Churches: December 2011

Wednesday, December 21, 2011. It Started with a Prayer. 8220;Dear God, are we where You want us to be right now? 8221; “Okay, what did He say? 8221; “He said ‘Yes son, you are where I want you to be right now.’” I must have looked dumb-founded. Alan looked a little hurt when he stated “Well, you’ve had direct answer to prayer before.”. Otherwise we’d be paying interest on the house for the next 2-3 months! What a Christmas gift. And it started with a prayer. Posted by Melanie Church. A Promise for A Gift.

The Churches: May 2012
http://the-churches.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 23, 2012. One a Zac’s favorite books was Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree. It’s a beautiful story about the life-long relationship between a boy and an apple tree. Zac loved that book so much that when he heard us talking about looking for a house, he wanted it to have an apple tree in the yard. 8221; Gee, was it that obvious? 8221; Yes I know. But we left without making an offer. Zac is 7 now. He has climbed that tree, swung from its branches, and played in its shade. And so hav...I lov...

The Churches: Gone Squirrely
http://the-churches.blogspot.com/2013/01/gone-squirrely.html
Monday, January 7, 2013. I sat for hours holding the babies, expecting that I’d be the last thing they knew before they died. Shortly before lunch time, they started to respond to my constant body heat and stroking. Instead of dying, they were reviving! Would they hide in the carrier? One of my sons asked where the squirrels would sleep once they moved. Then one magical day arrived and I saw two of the squirrels chasing each other across the backyard and the third one was at the feeder! Almost a month af...
