http://readingthemaps.blogspot.com/2004_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 23, 2004. Cryptozoologists, place your bets! The other day I noted that Nature magazine thins that cryptozoology can come in from the cold after the discovery on Flores. Seems that some bookmakers agree. HOBBITS CHANGE ALL BETS. Tiny humans are weighed in - what odds Yeti, Nessie, aliens? Approach with caution.). Posted by maps at 11/23/2004 06:13:00 pm. The Left as a problem: a response to Paul Demarty | barbarie della reflessione

The Left as a problem: a response to Paul Demarty. May 6, 2013. Lonely leftist booth #7: the Internationalist Group/League for the Fourth International. via Corey Ansel. In response to my post “On Platypus”. Paul Demarty of the CBGB writes:. Still less do you need the full monty of Platypus touchstones Postone, the Sparts and the various fragmented odds and ends. It’s possible to argue that you can get a better diagnosis of the problem that way, but really? I should say, first of all, that as I’m n...

Against Accelerationism – For Marxism | barbarie della reflessione
https://reidkane.wordpress.com/2015/04/02/against-accelerationism-for-marxism
Against Accelerationism – For Marxism. April 2, 2015. To the extent that left accelerationists draw upon Marx, they are reflecting Marx’s recognition of the positive historical role capitalism can and must play, specifically in its capacity to develop the forces of production, increasing intensively and extensively the productivity of human activity. To the extent that the accelerationists are calling for reforms (most notably, universal basic income) that would subsidize the proletarian condition, they ...

A constitution fit for purpose - Weekly Worker
http://weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/1071/a-constitution-fit-for-purpose
A paper of Marxist polemic and Marxist unity. A constitution fit for purpose. The Communist Platform has agreed to submit an alternative constitution for Left Unity at the November 21-22 national conference, when a whole day has been put aside to discuss the question. The current constitution, widely regarded as being unfit for purpose, stretches to 6,000 words and the CP is proposing it should be replaced by this much shorter and more concise document. Article 6. Organisationally Left Unity is based...

Letters - Weekly Worker

A paper of Marxist polemic and Marxist unity. Jack Conrad says: “In light of Corbyn’s success the left needs to seriously examine why it gets the Labour Party so wrong” (‘Confusion and disarray’ August 6). It is also a good time to consider whether the CPGB has got it wrong too. Even worse, “Corbyn calls himself a republican”, but does not see the need for a militant republican. I can, however, agree with Jack that the Corbyn campaign shows that social democracy is reviving in England. But the declin...

Society & Culture - Weekly Worker

A paper of Marxist polemic and Marxist unity. Media, arts and sport. Günter Grass and the German neurosis. Sport solidarity, not Sport relief. When all the crap began: Supplement Part 1. Demands of capital will triumph. Eddie Ford says that, while Theresa May speaks about a hard Brexit for domestic advantage, what she will deliver will either be a soft Brexit or no Brexit at all. Sow the wind, reap the windbag. Criticise, don’t boycott. Hard Brexit or no Brexit? Swimming in the right pond. Internal and e...

Suboptimal Planet: March 2013
http://suboptimalplanet.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 March 2013. Self-determination in the Falklands. The people of the Falkland Islands have voted overwhelmingly in favour of remaining a UK overseas territory. Of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum - on a turnout of more than 90% - 1,513 were in favour, while just three votes were against. Referendum results don't get much more decisive than that. 99.74% of Falkland Islanders want to remain British - even more than the 98.48% who made that choice in Gibraltar. Nevertheless, as @GittleBos.
