Creative Academia

Sunday, 2 August 2015. Normality, preserves and a miracle. And so. One long exhale. I like to start writing as if we were mid conversation or that comfortable ease of good friends meeting up after a long absence. It’s been a strange few months but we’re getting there. BigR finished her first year in school – how did that happen? July was busy month. Birthdays (mine and the ABO…who reached that milestone), holidays, school ending, hospital visits and what seemed like endless rain! The garden survived our ...

Creative Academia: New routines and rituals

http://www.creativeacademia.blogspot.com/2015/05/new-routines-and-rituals.html

Wednesday, 6 May 2015. New routines and rituals. You know how it is. Those activities you just have. To do before you can settle to something else. Like tidying up before revising for an exam. Or finishing the ironing/cleaning the loo/scooping out plugholes before you make yet another visit to the hospital. Or just having a quick coffee before you get on with anything. I've been thinking about routines and rituals. I've written about it before. And thicker curtains (to cover the blackout blind! And I'm h...

Creative Academia: March 2015

http://www.creativeacademia.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 29 March 2015. March, as it happens, hasn't turned out quite the way I'd (we'd) expected. Spring is definitely here. I've been doing my best to appreciate it. Looking out for new growth in the garden, enjoying sunny days, buying some new garden furniture, seeing my camellia burst into flower, having some work done to make the garden secure, enjoying Mother's day, making pom poms (in blue wool! To turn into Easter chicks. How on earth do you get a 2 year old to take nasty tasting medicines? So I'm...

Creative Academia: Coasting

http://www.creativeacademia.blogspot.com/2015/05/coasting.html

Thursday, 21 May 2015. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Where is the time going? Not wanting to be left out it's looking likely that our eldest has a nut allergy. Pistachios for certain. Other nuts? Who knows but she's not having nuts anymore. More referrals. More appointments. More tests. Even with 'insider' knowledge on navigating the health system it's exhausting. But amidst this there is joy. I'm looking forward to a bounty of blueberries this year. LittleR ate the best part of a punnet...

Creative Academia: April 2015

http://www.creativeacademia.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, 16 April 2015. Ten Things : April. As well as the worry thoughts (what if.) but to counteract that I've actually gotten up and gotten on with stuff. I'm struggling to believe we're nearly a quarter of the way through the year. Thr last 6 weeks have been a blur and a steep learning curve. Pizza is now a staple in our lives since I worked out how not to make to stick to the baking tray. I often have some dough 'resting'in the fridge (who knew you do this? BigR has expressed an interest in learnin...

Creative Academia: The year in books :: June

http://www.creativeacademia.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-year-in-books-june.html

Monday, 1 June 2015. The year in books : June. Once again (here come the excuses) I've not actually finished a 'reading' book. I'm halfway through Jay Rayner's 'The Apologist' and good though it is, it's not been completed. I've been busily reading cookery and other food books in search of some inspiration to go beyond our usual dishes and also gaining inspiration form craft books at all the thinks I could make in my free time (hahahahaha). In June I aim to. Read A God In Ruins. Joining in with Laura.

Creative Abyss

Creating something deep from within. New website up and running! I am feeling good about how things are going artistically for me this year. I am doing a new online art course all year which most of you would have heard me rave about quite often called Lifebook. These courses gave me a great insight into who my target audience is, blogging ideas that are out of the box and got me thinking about redoing my cluttered website and gave me the confidence to connect to my audience in new ways. Doing Lifebook h...

To me, "Creative Abyss" means imagining and creating something from deep inside. 8203;I live in the Blue Mountains, Australia and am passionate about art. I have had 2 solo exhibitions and often enter local art exhibitions. For me, art is very grounding and self-gratifying. I work in mixed media and love using lots of layers. My mantra is "Texture, texture, texture! Creative Abyss is a fun way for me to let my hair down, keep being creative while at home with the kids and stay sane! Promote Your Page Too.
