The Preperation - Spent last night watching my beloved eagles smash a lack lustre bulldogs eating all the wrong things, sausage rolls, wedges, cocktail frankfurts, chips, cheese. During todays run, my mind was ticking over with goals and plans for 2007. I will put down on paper in good time my intentions, but as for now.back to recovery. Tuesday, January 02, 2007. 2006 review and an end to Big Expectations. It all started back on 10th February.I ventured into the world of blogging. My goals back in the early day were simple. Personal goals were to get healthier, lighter and fitter while running goals were to complete the City to Bay in under 72mins and complete a half marathon. My big expectations was that running regularly could help me reach those goals. February - Started the month training at less than 20km a week bought a Garmin.

Sunday, August 27, 2006. Race Report - Adelaide Marathon Festival - 10k. I thought the race was great. My 5km split was 29:12, which meant a nice negative split to finish. Great to see some other CR caps out too, Wardman, RunDave, Nando (I think and looking a little worse for wear). Everything is looking good now for my goal time in a couple of weeks at the City to Bay. Splits according to Garmy - only 200m off, not bad. Very nice presentation. Gotta love a graph. Well done on the PB. 22/10 Race 4 Life.

Saturday, December 09, 2006. Yep, waited till 8pm, but got out there this evening to try and arrest a downward slide in training and motivation. It was hot and took a while for my left kee to warm up but I got around the 7k route unscathed in 44mins. Post cold shower and the legs are still feeling it a bit, might go out again in the morning tiredness permitting. Solid effort Simon, tough this time of year with temptation all around so you are doing well. Wish I could say the same! Post 1 - The Beginning.

So today was the first corporate cup run at Mawson Lakes and I was entered as doing 2 laps totalling 4.45km. 14 people from my work making up 2 teams entered and despite being quite a friendly affair, reputations were on the line. Sunday, July 16, 2006. I must say that dispite the soreness I was also lacking a bit of conditioning and my preperation was far from ideal. Oh well my time of 1hr36 ish will be something to improve on next year. Finally I saw another CR wearing a cap too, Coolrunner Wardman! He was succesful in breaking his goal time of 1hr30min and I think came in somewhere around 1hr28mins, Rachel. Came in 1hr22min or something, check her blog for a better estimate. That is a good time to beat next time. And off I go.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006. Corporate Cup - Run 2. Run 1 - 24mins36sec, pace 5.41 min/km. Run 2 - 24mins30sec, pace 5.40 min/km. Well the talking down and excuses started yesterday, oh I am so sick, I am so injured, I don’t think I will be able to run, and as such quite a few people no-showed for the second run, my team reduced to three runners, But we all improved on our times. Now I am at a loss as to what to do, but I think I might buy another power pack and see, or maybe a proper Garmin one for $60.
