http://jasonsmcgee.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Musings of an engineer. Beware. Tuesday, March 16, 2010. This time of year always brings up the age old question of whether or not to choose BYU to advance for the first time in forever. Last year I got burned, and the year before that, and the . . . You know what I mean. But this year is different! Even computer simulations agree. Look at this (from ESPN.com). BYU ARE THE CHAMPIONS! However, I am banking on the Mountain West this year to perform. Have I learned my lesson yet to not take BYU? Any views o...

Musings of an engineer. Beware. Saturday, February 13, 2010. Nigeria Trip - Part 2. Here are two pictures of a fabrication yard in Port Harcourt:. Those tubes are huge suction piles. You sink those into the ocean floor to keep a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel from drifting. They act as anchors. The camp where we stayed in Port Harcourt was like a little oasis:. The people are just in poverty. Below are some more pictures:. Here are some pictures from Warri:. I think one of the ...

Musings of an engineer. Beware. Monday, May 30, 2011. Russia Trip May 23-27, 2011. I had my first opportunity to go to Russia this last week. Not Moscow, not St. Petersburg, but Yuzhno on Sakhalin island. The trip was for business, as we went up to Yuzhno for a workshop and then traveled on up to our Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) that is near the top of the island. (Sorry the map is all grainy). Here was my schedule:. Leave for the airport at 4:40 AM. Busan to Seoul (7:30-8:30 AM). Upon arriving in Y...

Dangerous Magoo!: August 2010
http://jasonsmcgee.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Musings of an engineer. Beware. Saturday, August 28, 2010. As part of a safety precaution when we are fabricating pipe, we have a hydro test, where we pump water in to the pipe at 1.5 times the operating pressure, to make sure that the pipe will hold up to any problems. This is me standing by our pipe we are pressure testing. This is another one of those projects I was completely in charge of (but not without mentoring). Thursday, August 12, 2010. This just made me laugh. I mean, I work for Exxon! The Ey...

Dangerous Magoo!: January 2011

Musings of an engineer. Beware. Thursday, January 27, 2011. Tour of Korean Apartment. Well, I finally took a video of my apartment in South Korea. The best part is the still shot that it shows below. Don't I look good? Overall, the apartment is huge for a single person. The quality is very nice, but there are a few things that I am still trying to get used to, such as:. You have to turn on your hot water heater every morning. Cold showers suck, so I learned really fast. Automated lights at the front door.

Dangerous Magoo!: July 2011
http://jasonsmcgee.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Musings of an engineer. Beware. Sunday, July 3, 2011. Fishing and a Sunburn. This week has been quite hectic. Two nights in a row I stayed at the yard until after 9 PM (making my day 15 hours of work). So instead of working a little bit on Saturday like I usually do, I decided it was time for a fishing trip. The day was foggy and at times threatened rain, but we never saw it. Despite the poor visibility at times, we still got to see the amazing beauty of this part of South Korea. Despite fishing for almo...

Musings of an engineer. Beware. Sunday, August 21, 2011. I Have Actually Golfed in Korea. Sadly, the morning of it was raining quite well. . . but I won't let rain stop me! It rained for the first 3 holes, and then very hard for the last 4 holes. Don't ruin all they money you paid because you aren't playing like a pro. Go and enjoy the surroundings and golf". Did I play that much better? Not really, but I did enjoy it a whole lot more when I relaxed. I can't wait to go again. Lunch at the Turn:. Part of ...

Dangerous Magoo!: June 2011
http://jasonsmcgee.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Musings of an engineer. Beware. Sunday, June 26, 2011. On the road again, but this time in Singapore, the Lion City. The "Merlion" that you see above is a statue representing the Lion City; thus the lion head, but the fish bottom represents the origins of Singapore as a fishing village. One of many sky rises in the city. This is a Hindu Temple. The "Chopsticks" in the foreground is a war memorial. The locals really do call it "Chopsticks". A temple on the tour route. A mosque on Arab Street. This Chinese...

Dangerous Magoo!: Oct 2 Update
http://jasonsmcgee.blogspot.com/2011/10/oct-2-update.html
Musings of an engineer. Beware. Sunday, October 2, 2011. I have not updated my blog in a long while. Here is a shotgun approach to cover a bunch of items that I have neglected to talk about. Mom wanted to see me in my orange, so here it is. I figure that I will start off with the ugliest picture that I have of myself in our safety gear. This picture was taken a while ago (March), when we decided to grow out our mustaches. I don't even get to choose a tie like I did on my mission. My name tag in Korean.
