Visualizing as early as possible helps ground conversations. Sketching gets the juices flowing and helps drive convergence. Continued by an organic progression of linking screens together and documenting thoughts. How far the linked screens/prototype are taken depends on the project, team and audience. Specs are a necessary evil as they are painful to write and painful to read. Documents that are too long tend not to be read, while a lack of detail can lead to a distortion of the original vision. I have found that verbal communication is the best way of getting a project through to the team. This also help get everyone involved and spot opportunities. Thursday, March 25, 2010. Selling the Value of Process. I joined a new team in my office recently which seamed to appreciate design more than other groups. I was quite enthusiastic about this new potential for proving out the value of a proper design process. It was soon clear, however, that while the appreciated the value of the final product they did not understand or value the process of design itself. The expectation was to magically land on that final beautiful elegant solution.

I've always looked at the world through designer goggles, but this book has given me an extra view into how my designs WILL affect outcomes to people's goals.
