Hanging out in the School Carpool Line | Live Work Travel USA
http://liveworktravelusa.com/hanging-out-in-the-school-carpool-line
Hanging out in the School Carpool Line. My school carpool line going in zig-zag pattern through the parking lot. I’ve heard a lot about the notorious carpool lines at schools. From other parents in the past. Now, that my daughter goes to Kindergarten, I experienced it first hand. I used to walk her into daycare, later pre-K (pre-Kindergarten) and other than a locked door sometimes, there were no security systems in place. School for my daughter starts at 8:15am and this is different in every school. ...

What do we eat today? | Marta lives in China
https://martalivesinchina.wordpress.com/2015/07/19/what-do-we-eat-today
Marta lives in China. Marta lives in China. 8 years and counting! What do we eat today? July 19, 2015. During the week, in Shanghai, I don’t cook at all. I share an apartment with a Chinese girl that cooks every day and the kitchen is always nasty and all the utensils are dirty (yes, she is very messy). Anyway, not that I would feel like spending my nights in the kitchen. Now that you have an idea of the culinary skills in our household, you will understand when I say that we often eat outside. Eating ou...

This lead to several private jokes between us and till this day we call each other sister. My German sister and I. Sorry, it was a very windy day at the beach. A walk around Suzhou alleys | Marta lives in China
https://martalivesinchina.wordpress.com/2015/07/06/a-walk-around-suzhou-alleys
Marta lives in China. Marta lives in China. 8 years and counting! A walk around Suzhou alleys. July 6, 2015. The houses remind me of Beijing hutongs. If you enter through the front door, you will find yourself in a narrower alley that zigzags around many small houses. Kind of like a commune. Most of the people living here are old Suzhounese people or migrants that only want a small space and a cheap rent. One of those “private” alleys. One of the “main streets”. That would make a terrific reading room!

Going to the hospital in China | Marta lives in China

Marta lives in China. Marta lives in China. 8 years and counting! Going to the hospital in China. August 16, 2015. Nasty pic. Didn’t I look like the dead girl from The Ring? I hope I don’t have conjunctivitis ever again! 8221;, I asked her. But she was already gesturing for me to go and the next person to come in. I had her write down the medicine’s name but of course no one could decipher her handwriting. (Does that happen with doctors all over the world? On the other hand, the hospital that C.̵...

C’s grandma had a little accident at home a few days ago and she fell and broke her hip. She had surgery on Friday and currently stays in the hospital. My arrival caused a small commotion in the room. 8220;Are you a foreigner? You look like a foreigner”, one of Grandma’s roommates said. 8220;Of course she’s a foreigner”, someone told her. Marta lives in China. Marta lives in China. 8 years and counting! Childhood pictures: Asia vs Europe. June 29, 2015. Last week when I was writing the post about cultural references. I thought about decorating it with some pictures from our childhood. However I didn’t have any picture of C. as a child in the computer, so I didn’t do it. But I asked C.’s mum. Well, check this link. So, C’s pictures. Taken in the middle-late eighties:. In Spanish we would call this a “bread face”. In a space rocket? Dressed...
