daviddrawsandpaints: January 2013

http://daviddrawsandpaints.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 January 2013. Every day that I go out into my studio I start with what I call a "Subconscious Musing". This gets me going. The brush is wet, the arm is moving, marks appear. It relies purely on how I feel at that moment with judgement suspended on what it might turn out like:. Subconscious Musing: Mixed media on sugar paper, 59x86cm.. Occassionally some suggested structure presents itself and I see meaningful images that please me. I am contented and so the day's real work can begin. Mammy...

Creative Hope: Donegal awaits

http://hopefulart.blogspot.com/2008/08/donegal-awaits.html

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Friday, 8 August 2008. I will be away from my blog from tomorrow. I'm off to Donegal and I promise that I won't do anything sensible while I'm away. I hope you've been having a great time off? I wondered if I could ask you for something, Lorraine: I'd love to have one of your pencil holders for my usual larger Moley and wanted to offer you one of my smaller paintings on Etsy in exchange, let me know what you think? All the best,. 12 August 2008 at 11:31. All the best,.

Creative Hope: More fun!

http://hopefulart.blogspot.com/2008/06/more-fun.html

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Saturday, 14 June 2008. These soft pastels are rather addictive. I love the fact that you can keep "the big picture"(no pun intended) in view and not fiddle and footer about with details. I can't wait to get back to Donegal after working on these scenes. Not long now, I'm due to head up there in about seven weeks. Labels: Soft pastels Donegal. Consider me a fan of these pastel beach scenes, Lorraine. 15 June 2008 at 07:40. 15 June 2008 at 09:04. 16 June 2008 at 05:30.

Creative Hope: Same subject, slightly different media

http://hopefulart.blogspot.com/2008/06/same-subject-slightly-different-media.html

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Monday, 16 June 2008. Same subject, slightly different media. I love pencils (actually I'm a bit of a tart when it comes to pencils) and a few years ago I bought some Derwent Drawing pencils. I thought they were lovely, soft creamy leads, easy to sharpen and a range of soft subtle colours. However, I didn't use them much, so I've tried them on Ingres paper using my Donegal photos for inspiration. That'll teach me to not be so promiscious in my pencil purchasing.

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Saturday, 28 June 2008. Well, now I can show the drawing I did in Brian's. With my recent pastel paintings of Donegal, I thought that I should share my favourite part of the world with my fellow moley exchangers. Now I'm excitedly waiting for Lindsay's. Moley to drop through my letterbox. Links to this post. Monday, 16 June 2008. Same subject, slightly different media. That'll teach me to not be so promiscious in my pencil purchasing. Creative Hope: February 2008

http://hopefulart.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Friday, 8 February 2008. So much for my resolve. When I started this blog I was so full of plans to draw and post my drawings every day. But what have I done? Real life has squashed my creative hopes. Between work, studying and decorating at home, I've been too knackered to draw. So over the next few days I shall endeavour to post some drawings from my other sketch books. This is an EDM challenge No. 97. Links to this post. Does anyone else do this? Links to this post.

Creative Hope: What fun!

http://hopefulart.blogspot.com/2008/06/what-fun.html

A Blog for my creative pursuits. Wednesday, 11 June 2008. Although watercolours are my all time favourite medium along with watercolour pencils. I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying using soft pastels. I like the way they force me to not fuss with details, but to get shapes and tones down straight away. I also like the way they can be blended or you can use broken colour to get the colours you want. I love the speed with which you can get a reasonably finished looking result. Your Scottish friend,.
