Thoughts and Reflections on ID
November | 2014 | Designing Instructional Design
https://designinginstruction.wordpress.com/2014/11
Thoughts and Reflections on ID. A blog on instructional design. Repetition, Cosmos, and Learning. Repetition creates memories. Some consider memory the crux of learning. Learning is contextual. It takes place within a culture, an environment. Watching the new Cosmos series, I am struck by the context of the show. When I saw the original Cosmos, in my early teens, my context was an unfolding world of knowledge, that science empowers and lead to invention, innovation, and discovery. Send to Email Address.

Thoughts and Reflections on ID. A blog on instructional design. Disruption, Filters, and Failure. A conversation can change quickly. Like how my wife and I are talking about what we have planned for the day and suddenly we are arguing because I said something very very wrong, such as “your mom is watching the kids today? Well, that’s what I hear, at least). I bought into both of these narratives. Then I saw this article. A few sentences and I realized I had been seeing the world through a filter. Fil...

The LMS Model that Works | Designing Instructional Design
https://designinginstruction.wordpress.com/2015/04/18/the-lms-model-that-works
Thoughts and Reflections on ID. A blog on instructional design. The LMS Model that Works. Most LMSes used in Higher-ed are NOT what some call “native” cloud environments.* On the technical side, native cloud means using technologies, like data grids and auto-scaling, that create the ability to more easily scale out and to provide robust redundancy. Amazon EC2 and Force.com are examples of native cloud providers. No versioning, everyone is on the same platform. Agile developments, updates every 3 weeks.

Designing Instructional Design | Thoughts and Reflections on ID
Thoughts and Reflections on ID. A blog on instructional design. Why Lecture Capture is not the new textbook. Lecture captures are boring. I’ve seen students fall asleep even during the most animated, most entertaining lectures you can imagine. Effectively teaching via video recording requires following the same production values that make great TV/Film/Video. And that takes a great deal of work. Click to email (Opens in new window). Designing Interaction
Thursday, May 31, 2007. The latest old thing. So Microsoft are bringing out a multitouch table. Glancing at the videos on the site, it hardly seems that compelling - the kind of thing marketing people who've never met a real human being think is "compelling". Well maybe. And really - why? My guess: these things will end up in Hotel chain lobbies and will be mostly ignored. Posted by cian at 6:52 AM. Monday, December 11, 2006. Simpler Tasks, Not Simple Systems. Less buttons, less functions, appears. The p...
