A Wink at the World: February 2013

After extensive online research (which may or may not have included a killer deal on green tights), I've diagnosed myself with it. It seems that most of its carriers are volunteers; those with a longing to retain child-like perspective and innocence; to be free of the heavy, mundane responsibilities we bind ourselves with until we're convinced that having fun is just too much work. I don't like houndstooth.

A Wink at the World: January 2014
http://winkattheworld.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 23, 2014. Happiness Multiplied by Tutu. I talked to my sister today. We emailed back and forth a little and shared enough information that warranted audible reactions. So I called her on my way home.one of the benefits of a foggy 25-minute commute. She's one of the small handful of people who actually believe me when I tell her I'm happy. She doesn't second-guess, there's no "Are you really. She celebrates with me! Over the course of my. I have had to be told I am worthless for me to ac...

A Wink at the World: June 2013
http://winkattheworld.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 21, 2013. Beavers on a Monday. Sean and I have an uncanny knack of seeing unusual/creepy things on our adventures. Typically, it's the people. But more recently, it's been creatures. He calls me the Snake Charmer because 5 of the last 6 outings we've gone on, I've found snakes. And almost always after I sarcastically say, "Wait! Our day is not complete until I find the snake! There's GOT to be a lizard here.". So far, this has yet to work on money.or celebrities.or ACME anvils. When we had s...

Friday, May 02, 2014. This Gym Membership Not Suitable for All Audiences. For most of my adult life, I have been asked how I stay so thin. It ain't because of the gym. But I don't avoid the gym simply because I don't "need" to go there. Have any of you noticed the epidemic sweeping across the fitness world? It's hard not to, though you may not recognize it in terms of "fitness". Let's try "Adult Entertainment". Or "Must Be 18 Years or Older". Or "Soft-Core P*rn". Using 3 filters and/or collage settings.

A Wink at the World: Destination: Paris | Part Trois
http://winkattheworld.blogspot.com/2015/02/destination-paris-part-trois.html
Sunday, February 01, 2015. Destination: Paris Part Trois. Monday, May 5, 2014, was our 2nd official Parisian day. It started as the one before it and as the ones to follow would: croissants and fresh fruit and the smell of hot coffee. But this day, we had sunshine pouring in the windows. It was going to be our warmest day of the trip - 68 degrees! Le sigh. At least the memories will last forever. Love Lock Bridge" throwing our keys into the Seine River a little part of us left in Paris. My feet took the ...

A Wink at the World: September 2014

Saturday, September 27, 2014. Destination: Paris Part Un. The Airport and Flight. Saturday, May 3, 2014, I found myself in the back of a black Mercedes, cruising down the freeway as we headed for the Salt Lake City airport. Gilly and I were enjoying the ride, Youtube-ing songs and karaoking along with them between bites of jerky. It was sunny and beautiful and we were in complete denial. So we sang and laughed and talked. And then we got to the airport. 2 At the airport, grabbing something to eat. 15 Ent...

A Wink at the World: July 2013

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. That One Time I Ran Away From Home When I Was 29. It's not nearly as cool as it sounds. I prepared for it. I told others where I was going. I took my son with me. Whatever. Let me have my rebellion.even if it was more of a I-can't-handle-this-right-now-so-I-should-leave-and-leave-I-shall. Eric was my excuse and Boise, my destination. I. And off we went. We didn't really have a plan. I just wanted to go. To give my hands something to do. They were so stinkin' cool! Eric and I were ...

A Wink at the World: November 2014
http://winkattheworld.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 16, 2014. Destination: Paris Part Deux. As soon as we landed at the Charles de Gaulle airport, I got the opportunity to present my passport for the very first time. I handed it to the cute guy behind the glass; he rolled my name around in his mouth a few times with that dang French accent that makes my name sound more "Chanel" than "Janelle"; then he looked at me, and said, "Chanel.I want to keep you.". 1 Waiting for our luggage at Charles de Gaulle airport! Away from our hotel. If i...

A Wink at the World: April 2013

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Not Being Anything In Particular. I stay up way too late. Regularly. Which is, by all logical accounts, foolish. I am an adult. Or at least my Idaho-issued identification card says I am. My birthday this year will indicate the same. I should be drawing healthy boundaries for myself in the form of putting myself to bed at a reasonable hour. Let's just be real. I figured out why I stay up too late even though I know I shouldn't. I don't have to make any decisions at this hour.
