Greater London divisional, 27/2/2016. It’s a pretty disgracefully long time since this competition, and I should have written it up ages ago! As usual life has run away with me. I had actually forgotten all about my “Competition Fatigue” post until I logged in to post this entry, and I think that competition fatigue definitely did a number on me. I didn’t do very well at this competition, and a lot of that is probably down to negative mental attitude. 😎 pic.twitter.com/6MhB7cVNa9. I have only been back ...

Christmas competition and a Christmas break. Once again I have failed to update my blog with any sense of regularity. But since we last spoke I’ve competed for the final (I swear) time this year and am currently on a break from the gym. Last night I said that next week I will. Get back to going to the gym and eating vegetables…forgetting that next week is actually Christmas, so I won’t be getting back to normal for a while! So I didn’t. In fact I was lucky to get 100kg! I got 55kg in the bench (57.5k...

May 16th competition – video | Laura Lifts
https://lauralifts.com/2015/06/08/may-16th-competition-video
May 16th competition – video. Turns out someone was videoing the lifts at my May 16th competitipn, and has done a nice little video (mstly featuring the morning flight). My (red lighted) 102.5kg squat is at about 00:56s and if I’m being honest, I think the judges were kinda harsh! I was so close to making depth! Oh well, that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I don’t often see myself squatting, so it’s good to see how bad my lean/upper body collapse is. I don’t think it’s too. June 8, 2015. Next Post →.

I think there’s now a running theme in this (very occasional) blog about how I mean to update but I never have time. Although, to be fair, this time it’s been a lack of motivation to update. I confess: I’m fed up. Life is very stressful right now and, while I’m still nominally going to the gym, it’s more going through the motions than anything else. Back before I did my last competition, I. Upset if I don’t.). Keep my torso up. Hence the dreaded safety bar which forces you to keep a very upright-tors...

Food | Laura Lifts

A thing about food, and orthorexia, and some rage. I do get frustrated writing on here sometimes (ditto pretty much anywhere else I write) as I forget that unless I. Say something, it’s otherwise not implied. E.g. things like my intersectional feminism, my history of discovering fat acceptance and accepting myself. I started lifting. I feel as if what I’ve tried to say just hasn’t come across. So in the avoidance of doubt:. Posts like the previous one, and this one. Lets remember to hold even body image ...

Category Archives: Self love. Long time, lots of updates! It’s been a shockingly long time since I updated here! And so much has happened. I believe last time I posted, I was still doing my remedial squats; since then I have competed again but not added any kilos to my squats sadly. I’m not going to any national competitions this year, but I will be doing a divisional competition in November. Then in January I’m 40 (eek! Which means I’ll be eligible to compete at the British Masters in March! I got utter...

Reading Half Marathon – against all odds | IM blogging

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Reading Half Marathon – against all odds. March 2, 2014. No problem re transport though, there’s a train at 8.14 from Bramley which gets to Reading 8.30am, plenty of time for the shuttle bus to the start. Met up with a few other runners on the platform, get chatting, the display reads ‘1st train: 8:14 Reading, on time’. Marvellous. How heavy would your phone have to be before you could say it had slowed you down in a race? This is not going well. Th...

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; Iron Mum life hacks. Guest Post: Ode to Iron Mum. January 31, 2013. February: the perfect month for a bit of focus. You’ve been paid, spring’s around the corner, it’s no longer dark at 5pm, all the Christmas leftovers have been eaten or binned. And it’s only 28 days. That’s 4 weeks exactly (count ‘em). If you’re needing a bit of discipline or your resolutions flagged in those draggingly long dreary January days, tomorrow marks a whole new start.

Iron Mum news, Iron Mums' views and random musings. Larr; The new runners’ lexicon. Janathon Day 31: The End of the Journey. Or is it…? February 1, 2014. Still buzzing from Janathon. But February has traditionally been my month for Achieving Great Things: it’s nice and short, all the rich food left over from Christmas has been eaten/expired, and the snowdrops hold out the promise of spring in the not-too-distant future. Remember Feballenge. Same story this year really: as per The Plan. Janathon Day 31: T...

Fantastic hills and how to beat them – runslikeadog
https://runslikeadog.wordpress.com/2015/07/17/fantastic-hill-and-how-to-beat-them
Goals ‘n’ drewms. Fantastic hills and how to beat them. July 17, 2015. July 17, 2015. In October, I’m running the Snowdon. Marathon. It’s quite hilly, or so I’ve heard. I’m now into week 3 of the best way to train for a marathon the Hanson Marathon Method. For those of you not in the know, Hansons is the greatest marathon plan on earth and made me run my 3 hours 30 goal at London. Here are my top tips for hilly running, I hope they help! Think how strong they’re becoming in the process of doing this hill...
