Blog In My Eye. Laquo; Being vs. Doing. Prayer is the beginning of so many good and important things. The Child I didn’t get to meet. September 17, 2012 by bloginmyeye. For whatever reason, I didn’t get to meet my sponsored child while I was in Kenya. That was all I got on the trip — the idea of somehow being a blessing to him, the hope of being a blessing to him, and the opportunity to leave a few small things behind for him to receive upon his return. I invite you to visit KCF’s website. I know I know,...

Blog In My Eye. Laquo; Book review : Fashioned by Faith by Rachel Lee Carter. Can anything good come out of Dandora? June 26, 2012 by bloginmyeye. This May, I had the opportunity to travel to Nairobi, Kenya with Kenya Children’s Fund. In coming weeks, I will be sharing some of my reflections on this experience here. Bill Bryson writes of Kibera, a similar slum in Nairobi:. Joy, joy, joy in my heart is ringing. Joy, joy, joy Jesus has set me singing. The children are fed here, educated here, nursed here, ...

Blog In My Eye. Laquo; Book review : A year with God by R.P. Nettelhorst. Can anything good come out of Dandora? Book review : Fashioned by Faith by Rachel Lee Carter. May 5, 2011 by bloginmyeye. This book would be most appropriate for older teens and young adults. Since our culture has started marketing so aggressively to girls at younger and younger ages, I’d love to see Rachel write something for an even younger audience. The material is a bit too dense for a tween audience. I received this book free ...

Blog In My Eye. Being vs. Doing. July 14, 2012 by bloginmyeye. As you can see from my last post, I felt like some of the most important work God gave me to do on the trip was just being a mom — seeing and loving the kids as a mother does. Nevertheless, they were able to minister to me when I was tired and unsure of exactly what I was doing there. Each day, I left them feeling refreshed, loved, and filled. They were the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus to me. “Will you come back? Posted in Spiritual Life.

Blog In My Eye. Book review : A year with God by R.P. Nettelhorst. March 24, 2011 by bloginmyeye. I’m afraid that Nettelhorst’s comments didn’t add much to the Bible passages for me. And the book doesn’t tell us anything about his credentials; nor does it say why only Old Testament selections are featured. I found the book to be a novel devotional format, but I can’t say it’s one that I will keep in my permanent library. Not recommended. Posted in book reviews. October 17, 2010 by bloginmyeye. I’m not sure how much English she knows. At first, her eyes were searching mine and questioning. Can you be trusted? Do you have love to share? By midweek, I’m greeted daily by tiny hands atop outstretched arms asking to be held, wrapped in a hug, assured that everything is ok. Posted in Spiritual Life. You a...

Blog In My Eye. Amy over at Amy’s Zoo. Inspired me to add a “Favorite Verses” Page. My word] will not retun to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Blog In My Eye. Laquo; Spiritual mothering. The Child I didn’t get to meet. Being vs. Doing. July 26, 2012 by bloginmyeye. OK, by now, I know you are thinking “Yes, but what did you DO? 8221; The two most popular questions about my trip…1. What will you do? 2 What did you do? Followed closely by “Will you go back? 8221; We live in a culture of doing, a culture that places value on accomplishing tasks.
