Loving and loathing the life of a medical spouse
I’m the boss now | Dr. and Mrs.
https://doctorandmrs.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/im-the-boss-now
Loving and loathing the life of a medical spouse. Don’t cry over spilled milk. I’m the boss now. October 13, 2010. It’s a career milestone the first time you get to be on the other side of the job interview desk. Not that I like to watch people squirm, but I’ve done my share of interviewing from the job-seeker point of view. I know what that side of the table feels like. It’s a nice twist to be the one asking, Why are you interested in this position? And Tell me about a time when you yadda yadda. In husb...

Loving and loathing the life of a medical spouse. Round-trip tickets to the middle of nowhere. Don’t cry over spilled milk →. The NHSC results are in! October 7, 2010. Once I saw the words “. We are pleased to inform you. 8230;” I stopped reading. I nearly screamed into the phone when Will picked up, probably pissing off an entire hallway of co-workers, but it didn’t matter. We got the scholarship! Some well-meaning friends and family posted “Congrats, God is good! 8221; on my Facebook page. While th...

Loving and loathing the life of a medical spouse. You know you’re a medical spouse when …. Round-trip tickets to the middle of nowhere →. Unwinding: the need for the occasional breather. September 7, 2010. She’d tell me daddy had to “unwind.”. Now that I’m the grown-up, I realize what a perfect word “unwind” is. After most days at the office, my mind feels like it’s tightly coiled. I imagine the stress of my day running through my body like electricity through one of those...Unwinding with a guilty pleas...

Loving and loathing the life of a medical spouse. Unwinding: the need for the occasional breather. The NHSC results are in! Round-trip tickets to the middle of nowhere. September 9, 2010. The champagne is chilling in the fridge all we need now is a little letter (or e-mail, or phone call, we’re not picky) that says Will got the National Health Service Corps scholarship. A few weeks ago, he found out he’s a finalist. We’re supposed to know by Sept. 30 whether he’s in. We see this as not only a way to pay ...

Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): Happy New Year!
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2011/01/happy-new-year.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Wow it has been far too long since I've posted anything. Time has just gotten away from me! The rest of November flew by with the onset of interviews and the holidays and that continued through December. I'm sitting here at home now while DH is away in a hotel room prepping for his final interview tomorrow! Looking toward the future is exciting. In 9 short weeks and 2 days we will know where we will be spending the next 3 years! But it just did...
Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): November 2010
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Monday, November 1, 2010. I've loved Halloween ever since I was little. The dressing up and the candy made it one of the most exciting days of the year! Does no one do Halloween anymore? I'm banking on the idea that Halloween regains its fun factor once you have kids. Otherwise, I do fear that my Halloween spirit is gone forever. ☺. Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): Submitted!
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010/09/submitted.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Monday, September 20, 2010. DH's residency app was officially submitted on Friday afternoon! Many DH is fairly calm and laid-back about it, but I'm the nervous wreck. I wonder if we applied to the right programs, if we applied to enough programs, etc. I just need to calm down and wait for the interview invites. Anyways, that's my ramble for today. I'd better go check DH's email to make sure we haven't missed an interview invite! Posted by Mommy and Wife. Wife of an MD.
Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): Oops ... I missed a few weeks!
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010/10/oops-i-missed-few-weeks.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Oops I missed a few weeks! Wow, where have these last few weeks gone? Is it possible for me to talk about something other than residency/match and work? Let's give it a try. ☺. We have a 3 year old puppy who I absolutely adore. She is a bit of a spoiled brat, but haven't we all been at some point? Posted by Mommy and Wife. October 20, 2010 at 12:07 PM. Sounds like life is crazy and busy for you both these days! Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): One Hundred Eighty One Days ...
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010/09/one-hundred-sixty-six-days.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Wednesday, September 15, 2010. One Hundred Eighty One Days . I've reached the point where I'm ready to fast forward past the next six months and just figure out where we're going to be and what we're going to be doing with our lives. Can't it just be Match Day already? Does/did anyone else feel like their life was in complete limbo until Match Day? Posted by Mommy and Wife. September 15, 2010 at 5:56 PM. September 16, 2010 at 9:09 AM. Can I offer a small piece of advice?
Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): Eight Questions
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010/09/eight-questions.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Friday, September 10, 2010. I'm an avid follower of the Life of a Doctor's Wife. Blog and she recently tagged her readers to complete the Eight Questions game. Here are the questions she posed and my probably less-than-entertaining answers. 1 Which TV character (past or present) do you most identify with? Now, I watch a lot of tv. A. Why is it that I can't think of one character I relate to? I guess if I had to pick one right now, I might say Lily from. I'm not picky .
Wife of an MD (Well, almost ... ☺): So Excited!
http://wifeofamd.blogspot.com/2010/09/so-excited.html
Wife of an MD (Well, almost . ☺). Thursday, September 23, 2010. Well, I've been checking DH's email like a maniac ever since we submitted. So far we've gotten a total of six interview invites! This was the one that we were sweating the most. If we didn't get an interview at #1, it was going to be pretty disappointing. So, needless to say, I am thrilled! I still haven't gotten a chance to talk to DH about it yet. Stupid rotations and not being able to talk on the phone . ). So doggone it, I'm celebrating!

The Dr. & The Mrs.
The Dr. and The Mrs. Saturday, April 7, 2012. Long Ago In Texas. Better late than never? Before the new year I said I was planning to post once-a-week photos instead of taking up another 365-day photography project. This post would have been for week 3, from the middle of January. Obviously, my intentions were just that - intentions. I guess I've been going through a photography-detox (is that the correct term for this situation? After finishing last year's 365 project. Ethan learns to dig! He took me to...

I am a medical student at Midwestern University - Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and I am also a mom. I have created this blog to document my journey through medical school as a non-traditional student and what I learn along the way about myself not only as a student but as a mom. Saturday, October 26, 2013. Two auditions down - no more to go. So I just finished up the second of two audition rotations yesterday and they both went really well. Maybe that is the advantage of being here and having ...
