CLICK HERE FOR THE DJ'S ORIGINAL REMIXES. Monday, January 20, 2014. Picture this: You're meeting up with a friend in an area with which you're unfamiliar. Maybe you're visiting from out of town or simply on a different side of the tracks, but the important part of the story is that your friend takes you to a bar of their choosing, not yours. This month's Mixology Monday. Is hosted by Southern Ash. As always, those posted below are a bit unorthodox and are designed to give you something a bit different, s...

modern feast: how to chiffonade herbs
http://modernfeast.blogspot.com/2009/08/how-to-chiffonade-herbs.html
Welcome to modern feast. Subscribe to your week of feasts. Sunday, August 16. How to chiffonade herbs. Chiffonade is the french technique for creating thin strips of leaves such as herbs, spinach, etc. To start, pick leaves off of stems and create a stack of 5-6 leaves maximum at a time. Tightly roll up the leaves lengthwise to form a cigar-like roll. Slice into thin strips, starting at the "tip" of the cigar and working your way back. Note: Only a member of this blog may post a comment.

modern feast: shrimp in wonton cups
http://modernfeast.blogspot.com/2010/06/shrimp-in-wonton-cups.html
Welcome to modern feast. Subscribe to your week of feasts. Sunday, June 13. Shrimp in wonton cups. This appetizer works equally well with shredded chicken breast or crab meat, so use whatever you have on hand. You can make both the shrimp mixture and the wonton cups the day before (keep shrimp in the fridge but cups in tupperware on the countertop) and just assemble right before you need them. Makes 2 dozen pieces. 1 package refrigerated fresh wonton wrappers. 1 lb pre-cooked shrimp, chopped.

Spirited Remix: October 2012
http://spiritedremix.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
CLICK HERE FOR THE DJ'S ORIGINAL REMIXES. Thursday, October 11, 2012. MxMo LXVI: (It Ain't Easy) Bein' Green. This month's Mixology Monday. Theme is "Bein' Green". And it's hosted by the Wordsmithing Pantagruel. The rules of the theme are cocktails whose ingredients concern anything that is the color green. I've been known. To use MxMo themes a bit liberally, but not this time. There just aren't enough savory drinks, am I right? Aside from the Bloody Mary. The savoriness of too many drinks are defined.

Spirited Remix: May 2015
http://spiritedremix.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
CLICK HERE FOR THE DJ'S ORIGINAL REMIXES. Sunday, May 17, 2015. This month's Mixology Monday. Is being hosted by the overall MxMo maestro Fred Yarm over at Cocktail. It's times like these with his by-default torch-bearing that makes us appreciate him. The theme this time around is Manhattans, or thereabouts. This topic is bittersweet, because while the Manhattan may be the most perfect cocktail ever made, it's highly overdone, and even its myriad variations can begin to lose their edge. A Jigger of Blog.

They are also good for slowly diluting hard spirits while sipping them in the glass. Having such ice spheres for use in your home bar used to be quite difficult. I've seen various ways to fashion them manually; here is a post by Erik Ellestad. Showing video of how one can whittle a large cube of ice into a sphere. As an aside, his post was a response to the public outcry (mine include...

HARNESS YOUR KIM CHI powerful cuisine. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. 14 Things to do in Atlanta. A giant sign reading "Virginia Lee" written in marker greets me at the airport through the windshield of my hostess' car. Sabrina's wild, curly hair pokes out of Merve, her trusty Mazda. Sabrina. She tells me the locals hate referring to Atlanta as Hotlanta. A-town it is. Things to do in Atlanta. 1 Have someone greet you at the airport with a giant sign. 2 Eat burgers at Vortex. 3 Feel a little miserable about it.
