A couple boulders near (or in the river). That are only climbable when the water is down. The boulder is on the left in the bushes you can just see to top from the dirt road. If you can't look for a flat stretch on land with the ruins of a wooden structure in the middle of it. The boulder is right behind it. Hard to beat bouldering next to a creek, though a single track trail runs right next to the second boulder. Not much for the kiddos, but their is a creek to play in for better or worse. A lot of spread out roadside boulders along a 4-wheel drive road. Ambiance: * Rivers and Lakes are close to much of the bouldering though the road sees a fair amount of traffic as it is popular with 4 wheelers, and used to get to several campgrounds and lakes. Parking: Most of the boulders have pullout close to them on the road, though most will only fit a car or two. Notes: Burrs, and a long haul on a popular 4x4 road. The boulders around the lake are close to a campground and trail.

Approach: The Roadside boulder lives up to the name, the riverside boulder is the farthest away and is maybe a 5 minute walk from the car. Ambiance: * * You will probably see some people but there are some great sandy pools in the Yuba to cool off in, just below the riverside boulder. Parking: Their are a lot of spaces, and a pit toilet just past the boulders as well as a few pullouts along the road. The area is popular with hikers but on most days its not hard to find a spot.

Girlfriend Boulder: A great beginner boulder with moderate height, flat landings, and a bunch of easy problems. 1 *V0 SDS on a layback crack to a horizontal rail and hollow sounding flake then up some crimps. 2 * V1 Work a seam up to crimps then up to a great hidden crimp just left of the offwidth crack. 3 * V1 SDS and take the hand crack and face holds up. V0 Stand start. 3a *V2 SDS layback the hand crack and work up the crimpy seem that runs right to a good hold and topout either back left or out right.
