Dorset Diggers Community Archaeology Group. Dorset Diggers latest finds from Nether Compton. These new finds provide us with some d. Ating evidence for later Roman period occupation of the site. We found two sherds of Black Burnished Ware of dropped flange bowl type made in Poole from Late 3rd to 4th Century AD. And we found a Platter/Mortaria sherd of New Forest fineware of the 'parchment' ware variant manufactured in New Forest from AD260 through to end of Roman Period.

List of Birds seen walking from the house. Saturday, July 25, 2015. A mid-day walk round the usual South Sawbo. It was quiet, possibly due to the prolonged deluge yesterday. Of bird note were c20 Stock Doves. And a Common Tern. That were both seen over a field; the tern coming from distance and the kingfisher cutting a corner. Common name either Hill Cuckoo Bee. Or Red-Tailed Cuckoo Bee. So what of the host? The Red-Tailed Bumble Bee. Finally a tune in honour of yesterday's deluge. Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
