Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Home for the holidays. The float entry from Downey for this year's Rose Parade is on its way to Pasadena. The float is entitled "Home for The Holidays" and includes a horse-drawn sled, a house, a bridge over a stream, and lots of birds. The float is designed and built each year by the Downey Rose Float Association and many volunteers. As always, the flowers are beautiful and accent the theme of the float. Watch the Rose parade and see the Downey entry win another award.

Our first day was gloomy and overcast, but the streets of the old town center of Chartres were still magically appealing. A brief walk through town, a stop for lunch, and we continued on our way to Dinan. It's only 1 pm We still have plenty of time. This was our first glimpse of the half-timbered style that is common throughout Brittany and Normandy. Ile de la cite.

Sunday, May 16, 2010. The Columbia Memorial Space Center. Today, my daughter and I visited the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey. We had a great time with the interactive exhibits. I love these collage pictures made up of individual photos. The photo below shows the detail area of the shuttle rudder. I think they've cheated in some places by changing the picture coloration instead of finding photos that actually change from light to dark. Mercury — good! Jupiter — bad! Location: Downey, CA, USA.
