One man's adventure in homebrewing…. Lil’ Hophound: bottled. Before priming I pulled off a sample for a gravity reading. I checked the reading and looks like I’ll have a beer that is 5.6% abv. I tasted it, and it is surprisingly not as hoppy as I thought it would be. Maybe the carbonation will bring it out. Hopefully the carbonation will bring it out, or I’ll have to rename it! Next on the docket: I want to make a raspberry wheat, a pumpkin ale, and a Marzen or Oktoberfest. A fellow homebrewer partakes.

One man's adventure in homebrewing…. New toys, new brew. I’m really excited about this. Now I just need temperature control. Somebody let me know if they want to sell a fridge or a freezer. It's my first keg. Just broke my brewing fast (school, work, holidays — yuck) and introduced myself to a new system. Instead of batch sparging I tried fly sparging. Tilt head to the left. It was kind of a pain to operate because it was hard to view the grain bed and get to the valve…. Next Post →.

One man's adventure in homebrewing…. Attempted an experiment. Attempted to do a double batch for the brewpot and split the wort into two carboys to use a low temp fermenting German ale yeast in one and a high temp Belgian abbey strain in another.
